Desk and Chair Recommendations

I've been using an old IKEA chair and desk. Both have held up well. But I'm looking to repurpose the current chair and desk, and purchase a new chair and desk. I'm looking to purchase an adjustable standing desk and ergonomic chair. Curious if anyone had any recommendations with a specific brand or model they liked? Personally, I do notice the difference now if I'm sitting for extended periods of time or in a chair with less support. For the chair, I've been researching some and considering a brand like Herman Miller as a long-time purchase. For the desk, I'm leaning towards going with a cheaper one that has good reviews. I was curious if anyone had experience with comparable brands that held up well and/or cost less. May look to see if there's any Black Friday deals.

Don't do what I did.. I'm using a plastic desk with a permantent bowl on the top. My son made a table top for it, out of wood, and painted it. So it at least has a flat surface. It's big enough, I have my sewing machine and most of my crafting supplies at one end. The desktop computer and a stand for the monitor in the center, and the other end works for my printer. Then I bought a really cool looking and moderately comfortable big cushy desk chair that kept leaning forward, and I couldn't make it lean back even a little bit so I could get comfortable. After several years of fighting with that chair, I got some regular swivel desk chairs, no wheels, no arm rests at an auction and I'm using that one currently.. I've been iced out of all the nicer desk chairs in the auctions lately, maybe I'll get a really good one eventually. My granddad's big wooden office desk is still in the moving truck, it takes several people to carry it and my son is only one guy.

Service has had to listen to me moan and groan about the ridiculously expensive desk I bought, only to have it turn out to be a piece of garbage. I'm still trying to get that situation resolved.

The chair, however, is a keeper. My butt has been parked in it eight hours a day, Monday through Friday, for several weeks now, and I've got zero complaints. I added a headrest that I found on Amazon.

Don't be me! am fortunate to have a dedicated office with a large, fancy corner desk and a nice chair. Unfortunately, yesterday, I leaned forward to pick up something off the floor and had a nasty accident involving an overturned chair on top of me. My chiropractor said he has never seen my back so much out of line.

We bought a configurable, adjustable height desk. It's in a corner with sit and stand desk space. My DDs love it. I find it a bit annoying when sitting as I find the standing desk space is too close to my right side. Our printer is on one of the shelves underneath which I find annoying as well. The chair is an ergonomic model that is so comfortable. Bought the chair from Staples and the desk on eBay. Area rug bought from Wayfair.

Okie, I left Dallas about 10 years ago but there used to be a used office store on Central Expressway that took donated office stuff like chairs, desks etc. I bought two heavy duty file cabinets there for less than the flimsy ones at Staples etc. Don't know where the money I spent went to.

You might go and sit in a few chairs to see if any meet your needs. Perhaps someone might have donated a stand up desk they didn't like. You could probably call and ask if you find a store.

I've also had a kickass wood desk with glass tops and metal desk with formica top that put what the stores sell now to shame. All hand me downs.

Regardless of the brand chair you get, make sure it is adjusted so your arms and legs are in an "L" position. The lumbar support should be in the lower third of the back.

Gaming chairs have all the features of an office chair without the price tag. Never buy a used chair.

I've looked at a gamer's chair I think called Owinx or Dwinx and it's surprisingly cheap for the features.

The other thing you need to take into account is the weight limit on the chairs some are only 250 max.

And I'm not accusing anyone of being overweight. Just stating they might fail if you exceed the maximum weight limit.

I have no clue about gamers chairs.
