Have you ever requested a server from a previous visit?

Not mystery shopping related, but I thought I would post it here instead of General Chat. I wouldn't do this during a shop smiling smiley

Curious though, when revisiting the same restaurant, has anyone requested a server from a previous visit before? My guests and I have had good experiences with certain servers. At the end of the meal, some will suggest that we can request them on repeat visits.

This is more geared towards dining experiences and meals with multiple courses, servers who match your dining preferences, and server assistants.

Edited to add: Hehe, it got moved to GC smiling smiley

Please don't feed the MSF trolls!

Feeding the MSF trolls bread or other human food is detrimental to their health and the environment. It can lead to malnutrition, disease, and behavioral problems in trolls, as well as water pollution and the spread of pests. Trolls are capable of finding their own food sources and don't require human assistance.

Many times. An excellent server makes fine dining a memorable experience worth repeating. Good post.
I've requested not to be seated with a server.

Kevin was unbelievably smarmy, and more focused on delivering his lame comedy schtick than anything remotely resembling appropriate service in a fine dining restaurant.

He was so insufferable I threatened to stab him with my fork when he attempted to clear a plate that still had (amazing) food on it without bothering to ask first.

When planning a return visit, to include that same amazing plate (Couscous Carbonara), I called for a reservation and made my seating request.

Got quite the stink-eye from Kevin when our party arrived.

Have synthesizers, will travel...

Now, don't run with scissors and stab others with sharp objects. A gentle slap on the wrist is enough smiling smiley

I found that interesting, as well. Some will ask to clear items, and others will offer to box unfinished items.

Yes! At Flemming’s, I always get the same server. There was another restaurant I used to go to. It was not a fine dine type of place, like Flemming’s. The waitress knew how we liked our food. She would bring it to the table to confirm we did not want it. Then, she would go back and cook it herself. When she cooked it it never came out wrong.
Went to a party bar in Dallas. The bartender knew my date as he had worked with her brother. Multiple visits.

About 5 years later, more upscale restaurant bar, different date. Bartender remembered me and my drink.

About 6 years later at an upscale steakhouse in Las Vegas. Bartender remembers me and my drink.

I was floored. Must have had one of those eidetic memories.
