If Food Stamps are stopped will more people turn to mystery shopping?

Sometimes it's hard to be compassionate when you struggle to put food on your table by doing everything you can and then you see people who work the system get everything for doing nothing. I watched a couple absolutely humiliate a cashier yesterday at the grocery store when the cashier told them they had to pay for a little less than $5 for items that wasn't covered by snap, out of a large shopping cart with over $200 worth of groceries in it. First the woman verbally abused the cashier and then her husband opened up with wallet with 1/2 inch of cash in it and threw a $50 at the cashier and made sure it fell on the floor and then they laughed at her as she bent over to pick the money up. When they left the cashier was in tears , I apologized to her and told her no one should be treated that way and then watched as that same couple got in a brand new vehicle and drove away. Here is this cashier working hard driving a early 2000's car that she put red tape over her tail light because someone backed into it and broke it, being humiliated by a couple that acted entitled instead of being thankful for what they received.

Yes, there are people out there that are disabled, retired and have kids, but the country is also full of people that act just like this couple. They demand empathy but are underserving of it because of their actions and in reality they destroy it for those who really need it the most and are thankful for what they receive. Honestly the entire system needs to be restored to what it once was and that was a supplement for those who actually needed it the most, not those who can work but just chose not to.

Up the thread, we discussed the fraud and abuse of the program.

It bothers me, but so do a lot of ways the governments wastes taxpayer money. Many people
are most bothered by SNAP because it's in their faces....whereas the other fraudulent and wasteful programs are not as obvious...
but you certainly can find out about them.

Just read an article yesterday about how we spend $2.5 billion a year subsidizing grazing on public lands, a large share going to billionaires and private equity. Yes, a lot of smaller ranchers benefit too. but the waste and abuse is obvious. This list goes on. Yes, let us fix the system, but not stop at just programs for the needy.
A few months ago, I read a report where the amount the govt spends on corporate welfare is not that much different from the amount it spends on social welfare.

But of course, people don't get mad at corporations. They get mad at the mom in line ahead of them at the grocery store using SNAP....I get it, but it's short sighted.
