Citrus - is it just my area?

At this time every year, I look forward to eating a good amount of citrus as it's now in season....
this year so far is a bust and that's unusual...
usually in the stores we see all varieties and they are in good shape.
This year so far? puny little tough skinned mandarins all bruised up
navels that are dry and flavorless.
maybe there was a frost I didn't read about?
how about your area?

Life was passing like a hand waving from a train I wanted to be on

I don't eat as much citrus here in AL. I lived in Riverside County when I was in CA, right smack in the middle of a bunch of citrus farms. I could drive down Van Buren and get huge bags of almost any kind of citrus, oranges, grapefruits, limes.. the whole works, for $5 a bag. My juicer was going all of the time.. I haven't used my juicer at all since I've been here.
I wonder if the issue isn't actually that it has been warmer than usual this Fall/Winter in California. I am in NorCal and have things blooming now that shouldn't be blooming until March/April, so maybe this is affecting the citrus?
Wonder if it is a worker shortage issue. I was in Alabama, and a farmer was plowing up a field of strawberries.
We've already had a hard freeze and frost here in AL, any strawberries that aren't in a greenhouse, and even some that are, are no longer people food. And it's starting to look like our usual week of icy streets for no apparent reason is coming sooner rather than later. I'm NOT prepared. I may just stay in my cocoon for the entire week.
