PayPal Closed

I just had my PayPal that I’ve had for 22 years closed without a reason why. I get most of my pay for doing my shops via PayPal. And most companies want my PayPal to match the email I use for communication from them. Am I just out of luck? Have any of you experienced this?

Do you run a business via PayPal? They have become way too buyer-friendly, I know people who sell on EBay and the like who have run into problems when customers complain.

My PayPal is still intact, but both my PayPal Credit and PayPal MasterCard were shut down when something went haywire with Synchrony bank and they shuttered 15 accounts for no definitive reason.

In addition to my credit score taking a sizable hit because my available credit went way down, the shut down my Chevron and Phillips 66 cards, making my gas more expensive. Not real thrilled about the auto repair/tire card with promotional purchase options as well.

I was able to snag a BofA VISA card that pays 6% on gas for the first year (3% + 3% user option), so that helps offset things a bit. Good thing, because it was my Chevron VISA card that was my go-to at Costco.

Have synthesizers, will travel...
I know several people who have had to fight to regain access. They won't explain why when they do this but we have speculated that one of the people who paid them had either used a stolen credit card or their actual card but then disputed the charge as a way to get the funds back because they wanted something for nothing.

There is a famous poker player who sued them because they locked funds received from legal gambling events saying it was a violation of their TOS...
I have had a Paypal account before it was Paypal.

x.com anyone

My biggest complaint these days is no more free ATM stuff for my business account. Yes, I can transfer, but I liked when there was free cash at every 7/11.
I saw a post today on Facebook about it, you're definitely not the only one. Some are reporting that they succeeded with reinstatement with just a phone call, I hope you will be so lucky.

I’ve emailed & called with no luck. They won’t explain why. And if my outstanding shopper pay for December gets sent to it, they state they’ll hold the funds for 180 days!! This is insanity! Do y’all know if any of the shop companies would allow me to use a PayPal that’s different than my profile email?
I don't know if they would do that, but it couldn't hurt to try. Meanwhile, maybe a trusted friend or family member would let you deposit money into their account using a new email address (not your old one.) This assumes the MSC would let you change your email address. Your friend/family member could add your new email to their account. This would likely be only a short term solution. PayPal will eventually report those deposts as income for the friend/family member, and that couold create more issues.
I don't think any will allow a last minute change to where the monies are sent but I would still explain with proof of the issue and ask.

Was anyone paying you using "friends and family" to avoid fees? That's a big one for them. But also receiving payments for producing adult content, selling products they have on their prohibited list, any activity they deem "high risk"...

Their process is very opaque and many will never know what they were accused of. They will handle things with the presumption of guilt. Holding funds for 180 days and then having it released when they cannot find a reason to keep it longer still beats the alternative. They may also decide there was a violation of their terms and assess "damages" that happen to total the exact amount that is present in the account when the investigation concludes. Yes, they also do that.

I do have a different email than PayPal with some companies. Ipsos is one. Also intouch. Can’t think of who else.
