Okay, I took an appliance shop...Intellishop..

I really detest most of their shops but this one pays $12 instead of $7, which I refuse to drive 20 miles for 7 bucks..sad smiley

Has anyone done the appliance shops? Any tips? Words of advice?

I've done bunches of these for Intellishop but their rates NEVER increase to $12 in my raea. I'm doing 1 today for the TV's. They're not too bad and I've not had any isuues with editors.
Just make sure if you ever do a second one that you remember every employee you have ever had there.... no second evals of the same person.

So employee "Bob" comes up to you..... Oh wait "Bob" let me check my list to see if I have ever talked to you before. Oh sorry "Bob" I need to have someone else talk to me.

Yup. Nope!
If you are doing this for intelli-shopthe form is not that hard they used to be for narrative than now. Also remember to put thr date of the shop and the shop number on the business card when you scan it for uploading or if you fax it.
LOL @CanadaMommy

@SunnyDays2 I haven't done these shops in awhile, but I think they require you to make note of the brands that the associate recommends and why he/she recommends it. These shops are fairly easily once you follow the guidelines. Not easy enough for $7 though :/

Yes. I did a doublecheck on the company and the price. Sure enough 12 bucks. Then, just now I got one for 7 bucks and that goes in the dumper! ~~lol...
Darn. I got one for tomorrow. I shoulda held out for the big bucks, eh?

Very easy form and easy to complete. Try to get 2 at a time. That is what I do. I have always got paid $15 for each shop ($30) for a visit.
Very, very easy. Narrative is sweet and short. Good luck on getting business cards though. smiling smiley
As of this week, we can no longer do two shop at the same location on the same day. I did one once where the guy didn't have a bus. card so he just wrote his recommendation for the appliance & his name on a piece of company stationary & that was fine with Intellishop. They have practically BEGGED me by email to do these shops sometimes. So I offered to do one for $20 and they still wouldn't budge on the $7.00 and I've done 31 shops for them with an overall rating of 8. BUMMER! Intellishop is still one of favorites though. Doing a car shop for them this week.
I recently did a TV shop for $20-something, and the report was a bit of work. No way would I do one of those for $7.
evidentially other stores are drawing blanks on the buisness card area too...

I found out from my shop the other day that the employees at this appliance store are on 100% commission. So . . . they have a high turnover of employees and it isn't hard to find a new employee to shop even if you're within the 30 day mark.
good... the time i went there they had all the employees standing around the cash out area and none in the store... i waited 20 min walking around the area... toke a photo of all the people just standing around and not helping anyone by cell-faking a call

Both the shop and the report were easy. Yes it was only $7 but it was next door to my dinner shop so that was ok.

The shop had strange instructions. Instead of waiting in the department so many minutes before asking for assistance, the guidelines said "Go directly to the department and immediately ask for assistance." Ok, no wasting time here! Also, the guidelines made clear that the client was far more concerned with what BRAND the associate recommended than anything else. Seemed to me I coulda done that just as well by phone.

Even stranger, I was supposed to portray someone who was "ready to buy today," but also someone who confessed they knew little about the product and that it would be my first one -- a product that costs $1500-2000. What sort of person wanders into a store to spend that kind of money on a product they know nothing about?

OMG, I've done this shop scenario so many times in my area and it is always funny. At one point, I wound up getting the same salesman 4 CONSECUTIVE TIMES during different shop visits. It was insane. And it wasn't like I couldn't find someone different- he was the only one in the department!! And I was at the store at different times of the day.

Nonetheless, I always found something different to discuss with him. Good luck getting a business card for this shop! LOL.
Eric how did you get the same person through on the repor? The guidelines say must be different salesmen. You cannot have shopped the same person ( cannot recall how many days rotation).
There must be different types of shops in different areas of the country. The TV/camera ones where you don't wait for help always pay $12 here w/o bonus and they are sometimes bonused to $17. I don't find them too difficult and I've had the same salesperson at a store within days of doing them. Both were accepted with 9s and 10s. No problem with the business cards either. Not my favs but I'll do them if shops are scarce.

Sure wish they would pay sooner!

@CANADAMOMMY I'm very well aware of the guidelines posted by the MSC yet this particular individual was the EXACT same salesperson on all of my visits for the targeted appliance. It just worked out that way.

The funniest fact of all is that I keep getting offers to go back to this particular store by the schedulers, who indicate that they know i've shopped the store in the past. Go figure.
Okay, shop done. Piece of cake. Got his business card and cozied up to him a lil....lol! He was eating out of my hands....

Just clarifying what "cozied up" means....It means I was extra nice and found some commonalities to discusssmiling smiley

Eric glad you got paid. I just will not take the chance to waste a trip and my time only to audit the same person over and over and have them not accept the report.
OMG! the scheduler I had to deal with was either PMS'ing or having a manic episode but whatever... definitely not worth $10. I did these jobs all the time for a Canadian company in Calgary-no problem- but the new company handling them treated me like an idiot. I certainly know what's required of this client but had to actually suffer verbal abuse and what I would call a temper tantrum. Keep you ten bucks lady!
@CanadaMommy I completely agree. When I went into the store and saw the same salesman, I said to myself "You've got to be kidding? Here we go again." I had to think on my toes to not appear that I was giving him the same exact scenario. I didn't want to waste my time to return on another date. Driving to that store twice that day did not appeal to me, nor did I want to give myself away as a shopper.

That's why I stopped doing them too. The last one I did was so awkward. The salesperson suspected I was the shopper and I knew he suspected I was the shopper. You can only look at the same refrigerator so many times and walk out without buying one, BUT still need their business card just in case you have questions later.
if they dont have a buisness card... which it seems a lot do not... i just picked up a flyer and had to write some info and scanned it in... of course we had to talk about that and some other things... like how come no one was around...

and come on... who asks for a buisness card at an electronics shop these days?... as soon as i asked for one his tone changed and he tried to say some things that he forgot at the beginning... but whatever...

not doing them again...
