$2 PHONE SHOP

Just got an e-mail where it appears they are desperate to get this shop done today. I did one, ONCE, just to see what it was about since the report was short, pretty much yes and no. It was such a quick shop, that hourly it wasn't bad pay. However, it was rejected because I "asked a leading question" when I asked what the difference was between two different t.v.s which is something a normal customer would ask. There had been a lull in the conversation and I thought I needed to nudge the conversation along a bit. Being rejected for such a ridiculous reason, I vowed to never do another one of these for so little money. So, it amazes and amuses me that this company that seems so desperate to get the shop done doesn't even think it's necessary to increase the rate.

To me, when an MSC offers so little in payment - I wonder what its thinking is. Either its contract with the business was too low or it is not thinking about the shoppers welfare. You get what you pay for... If the MSC is looking for good, quality reports from experienced shoppers, the MSC needs to step up to the plate.
In the business world, it seems that if a business needs to make budget cuts to save money, it always the low person on the totem pole that is cut. Likewise, the MSC knows that there will be someone out there who would take a $2 assignment. Why pay more as long as the report is acceptable to the client?

Exact same thing happened to me. If they offered you a bunch of them maybe. NO, no and no. This is not reasonable MSing. They keep flooding my inbox.
Well, for that rate, the company has a hidden agenda. I know how hard it is to interact with an associate who does not want to open his mouth. It is like pulling teeth and the company expects you to listen to the associate rattling off a long list of selling points while he wonders why you are wasting his time. Sometimes, it puzzles me how realistic the companies are.
Mantis -- Because of health issues, I can't drive on the highways. So when I travel to Florida, I have to take the train and then use public transportation which is awful in West Palm Beach County because I don't have a car. So, I did it out of curiosity to see what it was all about. Now, when I see the e-mails for the rent to own and tire shops, from this company, they are immediately deleted. This company is so unreasonable, that it's not even worth the time to open the e-mail.

I just found it a bit amusing and curious that acting like a regular customer, which is what I thought we were supposed to do, was unacceptable.
avitoots, did you violate the shop guidelines? If you didn't, then you deserve to be paid. Of course, spending much time fighting for $2 won't be worthwhile.

I agree. Cut your losses and just drop the company. There are many MS companies worthy of your service and would definitely offer way more than that.
We are neither missionaries or volunteer workers who came to earth to save the MS world. Register with many companies so you would have more choices. From the fees they are offering, you should have an inkling of what type of company it is. Or perhaps, like CORI, they raise them late in the month.

Mantis -- I wasn't about to spend any time going back to review the guidelines let alone fight for the $2. Not worth the time or energy.
avitoots You made me laugh, something I have not been doing much of these days (in regards to mystery shopping, that is). I saw these $2 shops and had to pinch myself. WTFruitloops (or some other ladylike euphemism.

Apparently someone is doing these shops. I get emails for them all the time. Not even worth opening them.
I did one once just to see what they were all about. The $2 is still sitting in my PayPal. I will not do another one. I agree, $2 is an insult.
The fact that PayPal won't even transfer that pittance to your account is indication enough. lol
Hi at some point I think that you mentioned vision problems Me too. I would like to suggest this LED gooseneck, lightweight lamp. The LED seems to be a much clearer and brighter light to read by. I am not getting commision, PM for details.

cynb-- Thanks for the suggestion. However, my problem was with double vision which made it difficult to drive. I'm fine with reading and working on the computer. I travel between Chicago and Florida on a regular basis but, because of the double vision, couldn't drive down this time. I'm o.k. traveling on the side streets in the Chicago area but not sure how I'd do merging onto an expressway. I was wearing an eye patch when I was driving in Chicago and it limits my peripheral vision. So, I'm in Florida without a car. Public transportation is awful down here so I'm a little bit limited for on-site shops.
anakin -- I saw the e-mail for the "bonus" and opened it. When I saw that it was all of $1 I thought that was the most ridiculous thing. Almost as ridiculous as the "hero citations" they offer as incentives to do a last minute rush shop.
I know which company you are talking about. So picky for 2.00. You feel like such an idiot listening to there stupid speal. Then you have to pause, pause, pause as there stupid instructions say. No actual customer would stay on the stupid line like they want. Never again will I do even 1. This company what cheap skates then to pick, pick pick for staying on the line for 5 minutes or longer for that crap. I do phone shops they pay 10.00 each and get very good comments and they are not even recorded. Another company that picks like that is Intelli chek. There phone shops pay like between 32 and 72 cents but you can do as many as you want when they have them. Not worth the time or aggrevation.
I did a $2 phone shop once too. It took so little time that I signed up for another one. Called once, no answer. The next day, called again, no answer. Emailed my scheduler asking if I should wait another day or call again that afternoon. He said to call again that afternoon. I cleared my schedule to be at home and record the call. When I get home, the shop has been cancelled. Are you kidding me? All that for $2 - and then not even $2! I'm not doing any more shops with them.
