Yupwinking smiley Pretty good. Reports are reasonable, pay is reasonable and on time. After a lot of shops and a few years there were only a couple of instances where there was a mistake in pay (once in my favor, once in theirs) straightened out quickly. Scheduler's work offsite and are still accessible during normal business hours. Scheduler's are helpful and friendly. I think most of them have been on our side of the biz which is a big plus in my book.

I cut my MS teeth on SEC. Good company, understanding and accommodating schedulers but annoying yet satisfying ( loved dem tens) pre-qualifying quizzes. Sadly their niche, in my area at least, seems to be limited to insurance companies. They no longer have those high end Italian shoe shops or clothing stores where I would find great bargains or hair salons with fun blue haired operators, I miss them all.
When I log on to their website, I see the following message... "You are currently a registered Mystery Shopper with SEC. In order to gain access to eyes2ears Gateway and all of its benefits, you must become a Business Analyst. Please Click Here and follow the necessary steps to become a SEC Brand Agent."

So does this mean that I am not actually eligible to apply for shops at this time? Business Analyst? SEC Brand Agent? What happened to plain, old Mystery Shopper?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, what's in a name? Nothing and everything.
Do any of you know if they have work in So Cal.(Los Angeles to be exact)..I have looked at their map and list of shops several times now and when I click on California I get a note that says there is one shop in San Diego (for the entire state). I don't want to sign up if there is nothing here. I am actually trying to find shops for the company that starts with an A that is listed as one of their clients on their website. I did these for years for a company that was bought out by MF and have not seen the jobs for many months. So does anyone know if this beauty related company is shopped by them in LA?
Most people will say the same thing. Just because a company does not have anything in your area does not mean they never will. When it boils down to one which is primarily self-assign, pays fairly and on-time and has reasonable jobs and expectations there is nothing to lose but a few minutes of your time.

I seem to spend an enormous amount of time checking the companies that I do work for looking for the elusive jobs that come and go within hours sometimes. I have stopped looking at some of them that no longer seem to have shops here but I do check once in a while even on those. Once their release date is past (and they don't always reveal their release date) the rest of the month there is nothing. Perhaps there is a good system that some of you use for finding shops that I do not know about...I find with the ones which send emails, once the email goes out the shops are gone. I suspect in smaller places these shops do not get scooped up. But here in LA some of the shops people in other parts of the country speak about getting big bonuses for are gone way before bonus time. The ones that hang around are the $2 fee ones...i am not interested in those.
Anyone have a good system for finding shops??? Some of you are signed up on hundreds of websites...it seems a full time job just looking for jobs!
my system for finding shops is if they want them done they will email or call me. Otherwise I occasionally check the job boards for "interesting", different or unique assignments to give some variety.

I just posted this on another thread. It is hard to advise someone in a different part of the country because of all the variables. If you have the attitude that this is a business, your business, then you will need to devote some unpaid time to researching and eventually you will find a method to all the madness. For those that actually receive direct e-mails and phone calls it is usually the result of consistent work over a period of time. I spent a heckuva long time developing relationships, honing my skills, working hard and on a few occasions making up for a big boo boo or two to convince people I can do the job. You will develop your methods, rhythms and feel for the biz. You will also find those companies that you can count on and won't mind taking the time to search their job boards. The bottom line is their are no shortcuts and no tried and true methodsmiling smiley

Does anyone know if they have East Coast shops?

You will find that mystery shopping is a very fluid business. In other words, clients regularly change MSCs and you're best bet is to register with as many companies as possible to find jobs in your locale.

Thanks for the looking for jobs answer...I was hoping there was some quicker system out there that I just did not know about. The job board on this site does not seem to have los angeles listings whenever i look at it. Lots of jobs here but also lots of shoppers willing to do them...
Irene and Steve would be the experts for LA and southern California. Irene has often said the same thing about so many shoppers that it keeps the fees downsad smiley

The same thing happens in South Florida...too many shoppers = low fees and not the big bonanza bonuses that some of you guys talk about. :-(

Pay for a lot of jobs tends to be lower in Florida so it kind of stands to reason that the MS would follow suitsad smiley

The Pay Scale Gods justify the low paying jobs (across the board, not just MS'ing) in Florida as the price we pay for living in "paradise." I don't consider 6 months of of high heat, extreme humidity, and mosquitoes that can carry a small child as "paradise." We do know how to throw a hurricane party though. ;-)

You forgot something...

Those creepy, crunchy flying ROACHES. Oh, sorry, Palmetto Bugs.

(someday I'll give up the absolutely hysterically funny story - now it is anyway - that my husband and son still find amusing - at my expense. ;(

I dunno which is worse.. well, yeah, I do. Palmetto Bugs.

Two nights ago, the my little 14 year old darling puddytat went after a big old brown bug on the carpeting in the bedroom! I figured it was a wolf spider (those things are HUGE, size of my hand, no joke almost stepped on one in the tub one morning!).

I grabbed her and took a closer look.. it was a SCORPION!

Hollered for DH and he comes back with the tongs, grabbed it, took it outside with one of those long handled grill lighters.. Crackly Fried Scorpion! First time in 5 years we've actually seen one in the house. Not bad considering we live on 3 acres of desert!

r@inyDayZ3 ~ R U an AZ desert dweller? If yes, I used to live in Tempe and then Ahwatuckee near the Pointe at South Mountain. I miss the desert...it's a dry heat! :-)

Rainyday - So that's what those humungous spiders are - wolf spiders? Years ago my brother, his family and I drove out to the Grand Canyon and came back to NM by going south along the Salt River and we had to go to the bathroom really bad. The only place was one small rest stop which only had the old fashioned wooden outhouses. When it was my turn to go I went in, turned around and saw these humongous spiders clustered down the corners of the outhouse. Needless to say, I never even unzipped my jeans but decided I'd wait. I asked my very fastidious sister-in-law what she thought they were and she said she never even looked as she kept her eyes closed!
We have wolf spiders around here, but apparently everything is bigger in Arizona, LOL! Ours are also quite shy.

Hey my Florida friend, it's a dry heat, but then so is my ovenwinking smiley

Ah... "That Walter, he scares me! Shut the hell up! Dumb A$$!" (I could NOT resist the reference there, hopefully you know what I mean!)

Yup - desert dweller extreme! Unfortunately we are losing this house and have to move back to Phoenix. We have a place in Glendale - 51st Ave & Cactus area. (thankfully still have a house), I'm SOOOO gonna miss the desert, but will be THRILLED to have a pool again! I told DH someday we'll be able to come back but for now, we'll be back in Phx. closer to the kids and those eventual grandbabies!

PS: Wish we could post photos - you would love the pictures I took walking around of the cactus in bloom! I posted them all over my FB page. I make prickly pear jam yearly. This year I may try Saguaro Fruit jam - if I can find a catch pole for the fruit!
