It sounds like it's time to call them up and tell them you have been calling for the bookkeeper for X months who never returns your call. If she doesn't call you
by 5 PM tomorrow, you are reporting the company to the Better Business Bureau and posting a warning not to work for this company on every shopper internet site in existence. Then do it.
