Restaurant MSC's?

I'm new to this mystery shopping thing and was wondering if you all could help me. What companies would be good to apply to do casual restaurants? I'm looking towards places similar to Applebee's or Chili's. Thanks! smiling smiley I am in the Northeast and have had little luck!

Hi Dan,

You'll find that you pretty much receive the same reply from others... There's a list at the bottom of this page:

Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies: [www.mysteryshopforum.com]

If you click on that link, start working your way down the list and applying for each of those companies. Eventually you will find some that do offer restaurants.

Part of the problem is.. what is available in my part of the country may not not be available in your part of the country from that particular MSC. So given that, it's difficult to say "Oh, this MSC offers restaurants" - only to have you sign up and nothing be there.

Also - just as a "fore-warning" - the Posting Guidelines here on the Forum (the short paragraph beside the blue/yellow posting box) state: "Do Not Reveal The Clients of Mystery Shopping Companies". (Not that you did - we just cannot disclose what companies are shopped by specific MSC's)

Have fun shopping!

I understand all that. I know it varies from area to area, but does anyone have a "bucket list" of ones that specialize in restaurants?
Dan,

As rough as it is, we like to encourage the "DIY" here. Yeah, yeah, I know. I will read about some awesome shops being done here on the forum, and I really want to PM the person, or post asking for "send me hints" - but...

If that person went ahead and told me the information? It would be against their ICA they signed/agreed to when they started shopping with that MSC, and I can't in good faith ask someone to break their agreement.

I'm signed up with about 130 MSC's. I work for about 25 of them on any given month. Only about 5 of them have restaurants in my area - only on occasion.

Someone posted in another forum thread something to the effect.. "why should I give you the list that I spent the time putting together when to be a good shopper you need to have the motivation to do it for yourself".

I know, frustrating, I get it. I'm in the same boat with a lot of the companies I see posted here, but I just keep looking around for new companies to sign up with and checking those job boards.

Good advice! I've spent years of research, compiling information, creating spreadsheets......no wonder I'm so tired! smiling smiley
You really have to be a self starter to be successful at mystery shoppping. There is a long thread on why more people don't do mystery shops. I have signed up with 90 companies and do shops regularly for about 20. It is not difficult to sign up. One tip, find a password program that will allow you to automatically fill in your personal information into the forms. It saves a lot of time.
I'm signed up for a bunch. I have been for years...it's just that I live in RI and not many companies seem to have shops here. I sign up for companies that have absolutely nothing to offer and all I do is waste time. sad smiley
Dan,
Many shoppers wont give that information out. First the link you started stop any possible lead because you asked for a companies name that has a specific client. Big No NO for you ICA. Second every shopper has difference of opinion on where to go for what. Only you know what is going to work best for you, do the work it will be worth it in the long run. I think some people get upset when people try to shave off time that we all spent looking for the same information they are requesting. I would suggest looking at Mass Or Conn. I lived in RI you should have stuff in Providence. if not consider making trips it dont take long to get out of RI.
While this is not a huge shortcut, I've found registering with the job boards a good way to focus on companies. Jobslinger.com has a free version and covers Sassies companies along with Corporate Research, Market Force and Bestmark to name a few. MSJobBoard is for companies using the Shop Metrics platform. These will provide a great overview of who is offering jobs in your and what types of jobs they have.

I'm guessing there are jobs in your area and you might not have found the right companies yet. If you are truly in a MS "dead zone," being willing to expand your travel radius is the only alternative.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Rhode Island is a small state. You need to go into Mass. You arent that far from a major metro area (Boston, MA)
