Invoicing MSC's

I have done several searches on this site as well as on some of the company sites and am still a little confused as to who pays automatically and who you have to send an invoice to.

I've read some posts that involved a shopper getting paid late because they forgot to invoice the company and am wondering who those companies might be.

I did just one shop each for MSI and Quality Assessments and received checks in the mail pretty quickly.

I have not received payment from any of the others. Almost all of them state the days of the month that they pay, and either pay with paypal or direct deposit. I'm too new to be expecting payment with just one full month under my belt.

My question is whether or not I am supposed to invoice them through paypal or if they will automatically make payment. The majority of my shops are with Intellishop, Sentry, and Second To None.

I would love to know what, if anything; I am supposed to do to get paid.

With very limited exception, they all will pay automatically for completed work. All the companies you mentioned do.

As far as I know, Intellishop does not have an invoice system. Second to None does, but it comes up at the end of the report when you submit. Each company should make it clear if they require an invoice and how to submit. For instance, Market Force has their CPI which gets uploaded separately after you complete a report.

As far as when you get paid, my suggestion is to create a spreadsheet and include the payment terms for each MSC. You need to know when those payments are expected or you won't know when to get on them for being late, LOL!

Just an aside, I think I know about the situation with the shopper forgetting to invoice. If it is the same one, that was for a video shop. The company does not require invoices for their written shops, but there is documentation video shoppers must e-mail.

We do not require shoppers submit a separate invoice as we use the submitted shop report as the invoice.

atimetoshop, if you would like to, you can email me directly at dave@sentrymarketing.com and I will let you know the status of payment for the assignments you completed.

Maritz requires you submit an invoice using the link on their site (you don't have to type up an invoice - you just enter your shop number and go from there). That is one I have to remember because it does not prompt you to do so.
ICCDS used to require a separate invoice, but I can't remember if they still do or not.

ICCDS is almost done with their SASSIE conversion. I doubt a separate invoice will be required from here on out.

Thanks Dave!

I'm not worried about it. As I stated, I've only just begun this new career so payment from you is not yet due. I was more curious as to whether or not I needed to do anything such as send you an invoice.
ICCDS no longer requires a seperate invoice. In the current system we are using, the invoice is now automatically attached to the shop when you submit the report (it is the page that you initial).

With the Sassie system you will not have an invoice like you had with ICCDS! smiling smiley

I just started working with Maritz and I didn't notice that I had to invoice them separately from the report. I caught it later, but if they accept reports and don't pay you or let you know you have an outstanding issue, that's kind of sleazy IMHO. Are they HOPING we miss that step? About 2 minutes of programming from IT could fix that problem, so it must be intentional.

The Market Force CPI is pretty simple, but why not include that automatically at the end of the report just after the receipt upload?

That's exactly my thought! I had the same problem with Maritz at first because I didn't realize I needed to submit an invoice.Seems companies requiring a second step to invoice without prompting or reminding you is a way they can get away with not paying for some shops. I imagine not everyone is organized enough to know who has paid who has not. I don't mind STN's method since it's the last click of the report and MFI has made it easier by digitally signing the CPI.
