Fee = $0, Reinbursement = $0 for a Restaurant shop. sad smiley

Bare just posted some restaurant shops for a large chain with for $0 fee and $0 reinbursement.

This is not the first time I have seen such a posting.

The result is that this MSP just gets bumped way down my list of companies to shop for. What a waste of my time to look at the posting.

Yes - an unpaid survey written up in the e-mail to look like a job to catch the attention of shoppers. I agree with vlade. This is one of my favorite MSPs but they just lost points with me.

Edited to add: You apply for the "shop" in your specific location ..... if you are awarded the "plum assigment" .... you get the right to complete an unpaid survey written up in the format of one of their online reports!

You have to "apply" for it? That's just a waste of time. I don't mind completing a survey occasionally, but not when they do anything to make it difficult. GFK had once where you had to go in and assign it to yourself and then pick a date before you could take the survey. Please.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

perhaps they are gauging interest in the restaurant to see if they will pick them up as a future client. Though their current msc has had them for as long as I can remember.

Early yesterday, the link took you straight to the survey. I suspect many were choosing not to complete the unpaid survey so the MSC now has it set up like an assignment. You apply for a specific location (client hidden) and it goes on your applications page. When they assign it to you, I am assuming it will go on your home page as an assignment that you are expected to complete. You complete a survey that looks exactly like a report form.

Either the MSC has been paid by the client to collect data and they are hoping to do it on the cheap by getting their shoppers to complete free reports OR they are auditioning for the job with this client and they want to do it on the cheap by compiling reports completed free by their shoppers instead of spending money and considering it a cost of doing business.

Either way, I'm disappointed in this MSC. They are a favorite of mine but they just lost points bigtime. I'm unimpressed with tacky .... and this is tacky.

I'll be damned. It really is a survey.

I was fooled by the email subject line that says 'Mystery Shop Posting - Restaurant,' the list of many locations throughout the country, and the application for the Restaurant mystery shop. So, when I did my normal quick scan of the pages to see if I would be interested in this supposed shop, I missed the words describing the survey.

The survey is described in the text of the email and on the shop application page, so they aren't completely hiding the fact it is a survey. However, they are cloaking with the appearance of a mystery shop. Shame on you, Bare.

Thanks for the posts, folks. smiling smiley

I believe the email states that they may have the opportunity to work with this client. I assumed they were just gauging interest?
Ath has a 15 minute survey and the fee is entering you into a drawing to win an American Express gift card. This is a bank job, under the guise of a survey, no fee.

Live consciously....
I think ( read to mean that I'm guessing ) that this restaurant chain is coming aboard with that particular MSP. The various listings are where the actual locations to be shopped are located and are simply a FYI for shoppers to put on their radar if they are interested.

The survey I took was in the body of the email I received and it took about 30 seconds. "Have you heard of?..." "Do you eat at ..." and things like that.
I thought $0 reimbursement and $0 fee was called just taking your family out to eat. The first business lesson I learned the hard way was to never work for free. Reimbursements are one thing, but a big bag full of absolutely nothing is another.
This was actually just a survey, not an actual shop. Although it would not surprising for some MSC to actually offer the $0 shop, lol!

It was a survey, I did it and very easy. Yes they are scoping out the crowd to see if anyone eats at this restaurant chain.

Basically they want to know if you every eat there, how often, and what do you like best. I guess it was worth it to me because then they will probably use this as a shop instructions such as you must order XXX appetizer and YYY entrée.
Yes agree they are deciding whether to take this client on and asking for free marketing info. Brilliant! But give me some incentive because as we all know, to get good marketing info is expensive. And who better than us?!!
I have done several surveys for one of the companies i shop for and then later I may see jobs from there. As others say the survey is short and simple but I feel perhaps there is a better chance of them taking the job and my getting the job from them if some of us answer the survey. And if I call them and inquire a month or so later if I see none in my area, they are very nice about saving one for me the next month.
