What can you tell me about Service Sleuths?

I am scheduled to do a shop for them today - first time with this MSC. Got a little nervous when I searched this forum and couldn't find a single thread with their name in it. Anyone familiar with them, please?

I don't work for them often simply because they are net 60. The most recent was the spring of this year. Payments have always been on time and at the agreed upon rate. I don't recall much else which means they must be relatively easy to work with as well.

I'll second Lisa's comments. Easy enough to work with, mostly straight forward shops. (Casino shops require a bit more effort but still not "HARD" per se.) Pay is net 60, which is frustrating, especially on larger reimbursement shops. (Casino shops are net 30-45 days, but still much longer than I prefer.) I continue to work for them.
Thanks! I feel better just knowing someone else has had experience with them. I didn't catch the net 60 till after I signed on for the job - that's okay, though, now it's in my pipeline for (gulps) December (already???!! yikes).

Appreciate the quick responses....off to get my oil changed.
I second the above comments. SS is easy to work with and they are nice folks. They pay when they say they will - - which is slow. I keep my accounts due for each month and close the month when I get the last payment. SS and Service Check are always my last two to pay .... it's always a toss-up which will be the last that month.
Ditto all the above. I shop one or two shops a month for them, always the same type of shops... and they are slow to pay, but they pay on their regular schedule. I've never had a problem getting paid, and there's never a problem with the schedulers or reports. I would shop more in my area if there were more shops available.
Thanks for the input everyone. I'm about to do my first shop for them also. Off to MY oil change too.
I always liked Service Sleuths until they started using KSS International. Now I won't shop for them since 99% of their shops are scheduled through Kern. If that changes, I'd work for them again.
They are easy to work with compared to some, but just a heads up. As advised by one of the editors, each department works separately from each other. If you are replying to an editor, don't send an email by clicking "Help/Contact." That reaches only the scheduler. And I was informed that the different departments are not only located in different addresses but they do not, very often, communicate with each other.

Unfortunately, I did not know the name of the editor and the message for additional info appeared on my shop log. So, I clicked "Help/Contact." It never reached the editor and it remained in my log, affecting my rating. Only after emailing my scheduler twice did she reply and she told me she never received my message on the "Help/Contact." I was blamed by the editor for not emailing her instead. But I had no idea who was editing my shop as nobody emailed me about it.

The last time I was paid (for more than 20 shops), it was over 60 days after the last day of the month I did the shops. What I can say, the schedulers and the editors are often very accommodating and good natured. I once deactivated my account but I was contacted and nicely asked if they could reactivate it. I was glad I let them.
They are good. I like them also. Thanks for giving me the heads up on who to contact instead of "Help/Contact". I did get a response from the scheduler, in time, to know what to do with my receipt b/c the "shop" did not have a "upload receipt here" box. I thought I had missed or deleted it and did not know how to recover it.

In my area, the client, frequently changes the movies shops so they always are cancell b4 I get a chance to do one. angry smiley angry smiley
I recommend them. Unless slow payment is the deal breaker. They are slow, but pay according to their stated terms.

I have done different types of shops for them. One shop, a casual eatery, requires more narrative, rather than less. After they clued me in, I had no problem reciting events in detail. Then, they had no problem with me =}
Service Sleuth is a good company to work with. They pay according to their schedule. If you have a problem with your shop or pay, the staff will work with you until it is resolved.

Service Sleuth has changed their policy from a 24 hour report submit time to a 12 hour submit time, so make sure you can get the shop completed and input within the time frame. Also, the receipt uploads needs to be submitted in a PDF format.

They have interesting types of shops.

If you sign up on Service Sleuth's site, does it still go thru KSS?

I don't know about SS, but it has with other companies. When I've used the Help/Contact link the name of the KSS scheduler comes up.

I completed my first assignment for this MSC in early 2006 and have not had any problems with either pay or reports.
Its not even 60 days; you have to bide your time and keep hoping for an update on their website of when you will be paid. And when that day passes and you dare to ask, they can get snippy.

Sorry so slow to finally respond - been up to my eyeballs in Halloween Candy and the INSANE number of stores I agreed to take on...but that is all for another post! haha

My shop was fantastic. I think I experienced every possible aspect of dealing with the group just because of logistics and things that came up, and I have to say I give them a super solid "A" -- that would be an A+ but I really don't like waiting so long to be paid.

I am still waiting to be paid, but the shop report was simple enough, the scheduler I worked with was ALWAYS accessible, even while he was on a previously announced vacation. I was stunned when he responded to a question that I had - I figured someone else would monitor his email for him since no alternate addy was given to reach them at when he said he was going to be gone.

If it always went like this with these guys and my check shows on time, I'm willing to get over my wanting to be paid sooner and will gladly take on as many shops as they will give me. Love working with people that are easy to work with!
