I'm confused by your wording. Are you telling us that this happened to you and if a shopper cancels or reschedules 5 shops in 6 months, Bestmark will deactivate the shopper? Or are you asking us if we believe that Bestmark deactivates shoppers for 5 reschedules/cancellations within 6 months?

I would think the reason for the cancellations or reschedules would be a consideration, and I would think it would be relevant how long a shopper had been shopping for Bestmark before cancelling. I would also think that a long-time shopper's track record would be important, or at least I hope it would.
Yes, if you reschedule or cancel 5 in 6 months, and Jessica Remmers finds out, she will cancel you in a heartbeat, no excuses work with her. I have done bestmark for 4 years and because I did not have the $40 to do a [food shop] today, and asked, only asked, so I did not have to borrow the cash to do this shop, if it could be rescheduled for next week, she shut my down.
I'm sorry, no offense, but canceling/rescheduling 5 jobs in 6 months with 1 company is alot, even if you have worked for them for 4 years. I understand not having the money to go do a shop, but I don't request it. Or if I do request it and times are tight I put the money back so I can complete the job. Sorry you got deactivated, but I can see their point too. It is unfortunate both ways.
OK, I get it. It's pretty believable. Five shops in 6 months is pretty many to cancel or reschedule. When shoppers cancel or reschedule for an emergency -- death in the family, car trouble, shopper unexpectedly in the hospital, most companies are fairly understanding. Some are not. When a shopper asks to cancel or reschedule for a personal reason - - like planning personal finances, many schedulers aren't willing to put up with it.

Bestmark used to work on a percentage basis and it was visible to the shopper. A cancellation would weigh much heavier on someone with fewer shops. Obviously, timing is everything. If frequent requests for extensions and/or cancellations occur near or on due dates it is a problem. Maybe this weekend was the firm deadline for the shop in question. If so, she is going to have to find a way to get done and probably kick in a bonus. Even if the deadline is not until next week, a history of cancellations would make her want to find someone she feels confident will complete the shop on time.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
The percentages are no longer visible to the shopper. It was an indicator of issue-free shopping, or an indicator of issues which the shopper should heed. Guess it was assumed that we all knew where we stood.

With a reimbursement shop, a shopper must have the funds to complete the shop, or should not apply/accept/self-assign. Similarly, a shopper must have transportation, a computer, and internet before committing to assignments.

ph300924, you stated that you asked if the shop could be postponed a week. In this business, that is often impossible. However, did you also advise that if the shop couldn't be postponed, you would honor the due date and complete the shop? If not, perhaps, that could have prevented deactivation.
Glad you two mentioned the percentage thing. As I read this thread, I realized I have't seen it for awhile. I asked a scheduler about it once, and was told that the rating was also impacted by how frequently you shop for the company.

ph300924, if you want to continue shopping for Bestmark, it might be worth trying to have a conversation. Some companies are more lenient about cancellations and rescheduling, but I can certainly see how an average of one a month might make you seem like a flake, even if you aren't.
I think how far in advance you cancel or reschedule may also be a factor. The OP said she contacted the scheduler the day the shop was due to ask to reschedule for a non-emergency. I would imagine the last-minute contact and no emergency would irritate a scheduler. It would irritate me.
To me, 5 cancelation s in 6 months is a sign of being a very unreliable shopper. I definitely cannot understand 5 cancelations with one company without some extreme circumstances.
Honestly, in my opinion, Jessica is one of the most reasonable schedulers I've come in contact with. She balances favors I've done for her at the last minute when someone flakes (like doing that $25 reimbursement food shop that always costs me at least $30 to do), with favors she does for me (a plethora of easy web/phone shops), all the time. Of course, I've only ever rescheduled one shop and extended one audit deadline due to equipment failures.

The automated "reminders" from Bestmark can be annoying for someone who is on top of their own schedule. Some days, as I cruise through email deleting the lot of them, I feel nagged, but I guess it's been their experience that some of their shoppers need to be reminded. Incessantly.

Sorry ph300924, I'm a new shopper compared to some of the folks on this forum, and even I think 5 reschedules in 6 months is excessive.

Ive cancelled more then 5 or 6 shops for Bestmark in the past 6 months alone and nothing has been said to me. Ive done maybe 40 or 50 shops for them in the past 6 months. I have no love or hate towards Bestmark but if they told me tomorrow I was fired Im good with that! Bestmark is Ok but they certainly are not known for their great pay!
Agreed.
They are not at the top of the pay scale. They are, however a good source of filler shops for putting together a route AND they can be counted on for a check every two weeks like clockwork.
