Beyond Hello, anyone?

The major upsacle shop that was going to call me to tell me when the credit went through never did. I had to call them! They confirmed the credit did go through and it was mailed yesterday.

Now I am waiting on the mail, and hopefully it comes. I am one mile from this mall and it's not in today's mail, so hopefully Monday.

I'm still nervous. If it wasn't $800 I was talking about I wouldn't be so nervous. If I don't get the credit I don't get my reimbursement...

Hopefully all this folly and follow through failure is duly being reported in the shop report.
That is a good question. I reported the events of my return, but after speaking to my scheduler had to submit my shop before the phone call issue and still no credit issue. I sent her an email asking her to append my shop with the latest developments and she said she would, but I have no idea for sure if they are on it.
It would certainly be unfortunate if this lapse on the part of the store were not mentioned because it is one of those things that the client really needs to deal with. It is the kind of thing that most any customer would be irate with--shopper or not. To say nothing of the whole store credit issue likely to leave a very bad taste in the mouth of many customers--but that the client has taken on already as a 'calculated risk'. Obviously they want only to accommodate their frequent shoppers with the store credit and the new customer be damned. But not even getting the credit processed and the customer notified as promised is reprehensible.
I could not agree more. If I were an actual customer of this brand who had to return something I may think of this differently, but if I were a "new" customer, which I suppose in a sense I am, and this was my experience, I would not want to go back.
Yet if you were a "new" customer you would now be REQUIRED to go spend the credit there even if they treated you like manure if you wanted the value of your original purchase. That would truly stink.
Did this evaluation allow for feedback from you as a prospective customer, taking off your shopper hat? One would think it would be valuable information to the company.
No, the shopper hat was always on. Factual. Honestly though, I don't think anyone who mystery shops is a prospective cusomter here and they know that.

Here is something funny. I told my 75 year old father about the shop (I didn't mention the name of the store because that would mean nothing to him) and he said "aren't they going to get suspicious when you bring back all those items?" He was thinking it was like Target where I would leave with an armful of things for $800, not just ONE item! LOL
HOORAY! Got the credit in the mail! Uploading and emailing tonight, then sending off tomorrow for my credit to my credit card!

The fancy, upscale, snobby "boutique" did NOT send the credit out until I called them on TUESDAY! I let the scheduler know that it wasn't mailed as they promised TWICE. I truly hope this goes on the report.
A week later, you get the credit from the store. By the time you get credit to your credit card, it could be after the closing date of your credit card, resulting in interest charges. Does an upscale shop, or the MSP, not realize the result? Isn't the way the return/credit was handled what this shop was all about?

How did the credit for your shop go??? Did you get the amount you spent??
Doesn't PayPal charge fees for large payments?
PayPal only seems to charge for "certain" payments. I haven't figured out who or why though. I was not charged for this large payment. I have a Premier account with PayPal, for a "business".

I recevied the credits and was able to pay the bill, but ON THE DAY it was due on line. I didn't receive it in time to make a transfer to my checking account, so I had to make daily withdrawls over a weekend, which cost me $1 each.

I would NEVER EVER do that shop, or anything like it, again.

I gather that when the MSPs send bulk payments to PayPal neither they nor the recipient get charged. I have just a regular PayPal account. If I sell something on eBay and receive payment through PayPal, I am charged. When a payment comes from an MSP I am not charged. I have received payments from MSPs for several hundred dollars but I have never had to raise the transfer limit of $500 per month to have funds sent on to my checking account.
I do get charged a fee for certain MSP payments, not many, but I can't figure out why. It's an issue that is on-going with me, as far as trying to figure it out.
Someone was mentioning a while back that I think it was Corporate Research charged a fee for a PayPal payment. I just have them make a direct deposit to my bank account and there is no fee that way. They pay so little generally that subtracting a fee for PayPal is just an added obscenity.
I have to check now, but that's not who it was. I'll have to see if direct deposit is an option.
I have also had no issues. I like them.

it was Customer Service Experts, but not all of their payments. I have to look into that one.
Oh, them . . . But that is puzzling. I have been with them all along with Paypal and although I haven't ever found anything in my area worth doing.
Beyond Hello is problem-free for me - just not much in my area; sunglasses and a home/patio store. Wish there were more as they are fair paying.
I sent an email to PayPal, and I am assuming I will get some "canned answer" first, then will have to re-open their ticket, and then maybe I'll get my .85 cents back.
There are a couple Beyond Hello $75-$300 "sunglass" shops in my area and I was wondering if I should take it. There are 3 close to me and another 3 a little further, but pretty good money.

They said I could return the item the same day and I didn't want to have the same problem you are having......Does anyone know if the sunglass shops give full refund or credits??
I did them a while ago. I found the shop form a bit long if I remember correctly, but the shop was easy. You do have to purchase $75+ up sunglasses, but I returned them the same day or the next day, and was fine. I was able to schedule 2 shops in the same mall on the same day for some and went back to return after doing the other shop and grabbing a coffee. I just said I was so sorry, that I found something else.
Thanks SusanMB for such a quick reply.

I am still new at this and do not want to get burned.

But I'm gonna have to get in there and get my feet wet, if I want to earn enough money for my cruise!!!! LOL!!
It's not hard, I promise. Just remember to get their name and notice what they were doing when you walked in. One time I had a girl on her cell phone numerous times during my shop. OUCH! Also, a tip-make sure you count yourself as ONE customer when doing the customer count. I was the only person in the store and once I said there were 0 customers.
Yes, I found these shops easy. There were 2 in the same mall where I had other shops to perform, so I did the buy sides, made copies of the receipts (which are about a mile long), locked them in my trunk for safety, did my other shops and then did the returns. Full credit was put back on my credit card and the credit hit within 2 days of the original charge.

The big issue with purchase and return shops is to know the 'closing date' on your credit card. So for example, today is the 14th. My usual card closes on the 17th. If I was doing a purchase and return today I would not use my usual card as there is a strong possibility the credit would not hit in time to offset the charge. Thus I would use a different card that closes on the 28th.
The sunglass ones will not reimburse for the purchase, but they pay you for the shop.
