This is one of my favorite stores, but I don't know if they are shopped. Have you tried their "Better Cheddar" cheese? Mmmm. It starts out tasting like a really nice sharp cheddar and finishes with asiago and parmesan flavors. Yum. smiling smiley

A teaser on my local news was about TJ's and it made me worried it was something big and possibly bad. The big news? After 11 years the price of two buck Chuck is going up to $2.49smiling smiley

Are they shopped by Trader Joes or is it a competitor shop? All I have seen here is price audits which I don't do. Well, I might do them if they were either overt or much higher paid.
Over the years I've only heard of the price audits and word on the street was they were not worth the pay.

Gasp! Horrors! ::eyes rolling:: LOL!

I'll never forget my first trip into TJs right after it opened in my area and someone asked if they could help me find something. I was panting to find the two buck chuck, and everyone good naturedly pointed out that it was now two buck and one quarter chuck. Caution to the wind! I bought a case immediately. TJs is THE headquarters for supplying the gals in my ladies group with all of their vino and other yummies.

$2.49 for a bottle of pretty decent vino is news? Wow. Gotta love local news. I remember when we were stationed in oh-so-cosmopolitan South Dakota and the news dude said that the price of bull sperm was going up. I turned to my hubby immediately and said, "Get.Me.Outta.Here. NOW!"

Two buck has always been three buck around here anyway. Even at that, who can complain!

Not me! And not any of my gal friends, either. At least a dozen of us have a case stashed in our homes, and no one goes to a get-together without bringing a bottle or three.

If you like red and feel like a splurge, try the Old Moon Zin. Be prepared, it is about $5.99.

Oh oh. That just might be outta my league, gal. LOL!

I might have to hoof it up to TJs to try that out anyway. I'll just embezzle from hubby's play money. winking smiley

ROFL, Lisa! Yes, you are absolutely right. smiling smiley

Oh, that is, except for one thing. I completely turned over any income from MSCs using PayQuicker to him. I don't have time to figure it out, don't want to deal with it, don't care about it. That's all his. But trust me, he's not getting rich! Ha! He might be able to buy a bag of socks one day soon if he watches out for a good sale. winking smiley

I cannot believe I read in the news today that the only place they were changing the price is in California where I live and the rest of the country was staying at two bucks. TJ's must whisper these sweet somethings in everyone's ear and act like they are the only one going up in price..something about state taxes and fees being more in California then the rest of the country. .And I thought they were above manipulating the market.
Other states have been paying higher than $2. Two states have been paying higher than $3.

As of last year:

"Charles Shaw Wines are $1.99 in CA; $2.49 in OR & WA; $2.59 in ME; $2.79 in GA; $2.99 in NV, AZ, NM, TX, IL, IA, NE, KY, WI, MO, IN, MI, MA, NJ, DC, NC, SC & FL; $3.29 in VA; and $3.79 in OH (Phew!)."

Thanks Buzz. As I said, we have always paid a dollar more and the employees had told me that CA was the only state where it really was two dollars.

My daughter loves TJ's even though it is to close to her. I have seden shops for TJs that are not audits, but doesn't pay much.
My holiday gift hits this last year were tote bags filled with goodies from TJ's. Has anyone tried their cookie butter? Yummy!

World Market had all kinds of fun treats in the run-up to Halloween. As it was my turn to bring goodies to my monthly gals-night-out, I loaded up. They had black bottles of wine shaped like spooky cats, cheese puffs shaped like bones, chocolates wrapped in foil to look like mummies and witches and eyeballs, day-of-the-dead sangria, and lots of other stuff. I had a great time shopping, and the girls loved it all.

I heard they have an in house shopper, and believe it as I have never seen one available thru my MSC's.

Live consciously....
That sounds like a good gig. One thing I love about TJ's is that the employees are always friendly and seem in a good mood. It sure makes my day better when I deal with happy folks.
I think most of the grapes are grown here in CA, so transport is cheaper. With gas prices so high, it probably evens out.
I am also under the impression that Trader Joe's is shopped, it's in-house. The only shops I've ever seen are competitor audits. I would agree that the pay is on the low side, but doing one was the way I ultimately got to view the board for the MSC who does them. Prior to that, I'd been "accepted" as a shopper, but not an accredited agent. So for that, it was worth it. I rarely see the competitor shops anymore, and in general, I think that very few locations are evaluated.

It's funny though -- you can tell some of their training by the behavior of the associates! As just one example, it's obvious that they're supposed to walk you over to an item about which you inquire, rather than just be told its location.
they have alcohol shops for people between the ages of 21 and 27. The pay is excellent for the amount of time that the report takes.
I notice most of those alcohol shops for the young adults pay well for the time & effort involved!

And there seem to be lots of them in my area.

This is when I wish I was still 27. : )
