Mystery Researchers

Can anyone speak to this one. Just received an email about electronics shops from them, and I see the same job newly posted on this forum's job board, but they're not on the list of MSCs.

Nothing nefarious here. That is the new name for Research Services Group. There should be threads about them and most, if not all, the comments should be very good.

they are good, but lack fast communication. You received faster responses when it was a one "man" show

Wales - Thanks for your reply. No website address, just the sending email address, NAME@mysteryresearchers.com. I checked www.mysteryresearchers.com and it's there. That said, the email to me offers the following...
1. Add me to the Mystery Researchers list of MSPA certified shoppers:
verylonglinkfollowstheaboveline...

Is this meant to register me with the MSC?

Lisa - Thanks for the info. I checked out RSG and you're right about the positive impressions.
How do you veteran shoppers know/keep up with such things?

I just had a couple reports returned for more information and am not happy with them for several reasons:

1) The request for further information arrived three weeks after submission
2) The request was in an email with a subject that began with "Research Services Group Evaluation Review" and then the shop name and number. The word incomplete was at the end of the long subject line. I don't generally read the evaluations right away if I am busy and the subject line was cut off in my email client so I didn't see the word "incomplete." I opened it right away because I was about to do another of the same shops.
3) The request for more information demanded a response the same day although there were only 11 hours left in the day at that point.
4) The information requested was not in the original report or guidelines nor was it required previously when I have done the same shop.
5) I replied via email about the issue and through the contact link in sassie but received no response.
6) I get another email the next day by a different editor threatening non-payment if I didn't fix the issue within 5 hours.

Is anyone having difficulty with them recently? It feels like a whole different company.
I just checked and the shops are now accepted. I would say all's well that ends well, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth for an MSC that I have loved up until now.
Like I said earlier in the thread....communcation is now awful with them and they take excessive time to respond. They still pay on-time though.

They aren't paying quickly like they used to. I used to get paid the same week or the following when working for them. Now, I am three weeks out for several shops with no pay. Not a big deal, but a lot of negative changes. I hope they get back on track.
This was only speculation, but some people thought they were paying at the end of the project instead of a specific length of time. In the past they had much smaller projects which would finish quickly. The current project is a big one.

As much as I love this company, I preferred the other MSC because of the ability to self-assign. Last month I requested several stores in the same mall and only got one. This month the apps were followed by e-mails to the schedulers and luckily all were assigned. While the result was good, it was more time-consuming. I also had never had issues with the reports and there was some confusion with one which had me submitting and going back to change answers several times. It was a shop that did not require a second interaction, but had questions for it and "not applicable" was not among the answers.

That makes sense. Either way, I'm not concerned about it. A month out is fine by me.

All of those things are small, but add up. It is one thing for a $60 shop. But for something small, the pay rate ends up being so low after including the time to deal with these small issues.
I haven't seen any delay in payments. They pay every other tuesday. As long as your shop shows "received" at least 48 hours before the tuesday payment, it's paid that tuesday, otherwise the following tuesday...

I did not get any shops this last time around. The round before that I had 4 shops assigned. I did the one in the city north of me but the local shops all had right city, wrong street address. I believe they were probably for shops back east so consequently they were cancelled out of my job log. When I contacted the Scheduler she said sorry, I'll cancel them. She said we have another project coming up in the next week or so and I'll make sure you get some of those.

Long story short, another scheduler did the next project and I did not get ANY shops. I'm wondering if the cancellations made on the previous round appear to the schedulers as if I made the cancels and so no one can tell it was not me who caused the problem.

At any rate, I was a little ticked.

Can you elaborate on what they were looking for? I have 6 from early last week that have not been reviewed or evaluated. I'm afraid I will get the request for more info. Was this their most recent project or the one before? (not sure if I can say - but was it their cc or electronics project)

Thanks.
It was the electronics. They were asking details on what the associate said when the brand was not carried in one of the categories.

Keep checking your job board. I just reported two I picked up last minute. When I logged on, I saw one which had been returned with a question. I hadn't received an email about it and the instructions said I had to resubmit by the morning.
Amazing! I did two four-department electronics shops for them on Saturday, and was paid for them today!
They've got my endorsement and loyalty.
Cool...I did the 4 department one yesterday...only got answers for 2 departments, as the store didn't carry the other two items...hope to get paid soon!
