CRI is not compatible with Windows 8??? Huh???

Just tried to enter a report and kept getting an error message, something about JavaScript. Called CRI and was told that their system is not compatible with Windows 8. Huh???? I've had Windows 8 for 2 months and in that time have probably entered at least 20 reports for them with no issue. Now what? Has anyone else encountered this?

Very frustrating!!!!! sad smiley

I have no idea how I can enter this report since all I have is Windows 8. I tried the library computers but I can't install the image resizer. This assignment is close to $30 and if I don't get paid for this head will roll!!!!!

The only thing I know about Win8 is that I hate it. But try to see (maybe do a google search for a Win8 forum) if there is some kind of "compatibility mode" you can activate. they had that on Win 7, hopefully they have it on Win 8 as well.

I'd start by googling for Windows 8 Javascript since that is the error you're getting.

their site is not compatible with most browers and operatiing system but most times it usually works...just try again later or a different browser

Could you resize the images on your own computer, put the resized images on a USB drive, and then use the library computers to submit your report?

This right here is your obvious work-around! I was gonna come on and say exactly the same thing.
Just take the already re-sized images on a flash drive. Problem solved. If you can get the stupid CRI site to work with whatever the library has, that is!

It is so frustrating that CRI's tech is so backwards.

In the future it might help to identify a friend/family who has the right operating system, that will understand you coming over now & then. smiling smiley

Phoebe -
There are a couple of threads on the forum from earlier this year addressing the W8 and IE10 problems that Cori has been having.
This fix seems to have worked for many (it did for me.)

Click on the "Compatibility View" button (looks like a torn piece of paper or a mini-cardiogram [which I have come close to needing when filing these infuriating reports!]) just to the left of the "Refresh" icon in the address pane at the top of IE10.
Gotta press that button, only once, at the start of the report (after the receipt image has uploaded) because if you press it part way through, it wipes out everything you've entered so far.
Once you press this, it should never have to be pressed again, even after logging out. That torn page should stay blue perpetually for Cori's entire site.
I hate Windows 8 - it takes 3 extra steps to do 1 from W7. Having said that, I do not have any issue with using W8 on reports for CORI. I just did three tonight.

Thanks, guys. I ended up going to the library and did it. It didn't ask for the receipt, maybe it saved it from when I tried it at home.

The CRI rep didn't seem concerned, told me to enter it as soon as possible but that I would get an email telling me my report was late if it was after midnight. Doesn't seem fair, as it's CRI's issue, not mine.

And yeah, I hate Windows 8 so far. winking smiley
The reason the CRI rep told you not to worry about it was because that late notice won't count against you.

I too, got the Java Script error. I have to switch between Google Chrome and IE. I use Chrome to open the details tab, and IE to enter my report. Very inconvenient.
I had so much trouble last night with my report, who knows if they got it. Anyway, they said error and did not pay me my $20+ and I just terminated our agreement. Who do they think they are anyway? At least, have the courtesy of emailing me WHY my report had an error in it. They are not worth the trouble, IMO
Phoebe, Plant, Canuck -
Did any of you try the compatibility button on IE8 described above? I was having the same problem for a month, but for the past two months, after pressing that button once for the website, I've had no troubles other than occasional slow spells after hitting submit on some reports.
I just got two shops thrown out because of a JavaScript error. One was $14.04 and the other $11.78. I was nice about it and emailed them more than 5 times nicely and now I'm demanding my payment and my rating returned to what it was. I don't work for free. Isn't there something that can be done? It's on their side not ours.

If you just submitted it last night how did they not pay you the $20+? I never worked for them but it can't be such quick turnaround. What am I missing?

Please explain what you mean by the shops were thrown out due to a javascript error and therefore they are not paying you. I know what a Javascript error is but how does that effect them paying you?
The problem is that win8 uses Internet Explorer 10 and some corporate sites do not play well with IE10. I had to jump through several hoops before I could download new information from a merchandising company that I do work for. There are ways to make IE10 behave like earlier versions. This site helped me get things straightened out

I don't do much for cori these days but at one time they told us to only use IE and told a version to use.

I couldn't get the reports because of the error in therefore I didn't get paid plus my rating went down. I emailed them approximately 10 times to different departments and no body would help me. I even checked the FAQs about error messages and that was no help. Some of their other reports from other companies go in.
I'm aware of compatibility issues etc. When I looked at my history, I saw my report there with a RED Box and $0 payment due to an 'error' on my report. Nothing else was mentioned besides: NO PAYMENT. That's what I meant. Now this morning, I got an email and they said this:

Thank you for submitting your assignment, ******** for our company. Our editing staff has reviewed and compiled feedback regarding your report. This feedback is designed to compliment areas you completed correctly and explain any areas you need improvement, for completing our reports and for requesting more assignments with our company.Your rating for this report is: 5

If I understand correctly "5" is good, no?

But, it doesn't matter. They obviously cannot get their act together. Why penalize us when we did the job! Get modern for crying out loud. I quit them and will never bother with that company again. I don't like being treated like this and will not stand for it. I'm emailing them later to tell them just that too. I traveled 80 miles to do this, so I'm out about $10 in gas, plus my shop.

I can't get the test for the new pool company to work. They've got a gazillion jobs on the board and no way to qualify for them because the test won't launch (or wouldn't as of last night). I tried a couple of browsers including IE (although I don't know what version, I forgot to look). I'll try later from my older computer.

Canuck: If you got a "5" rating and they accepted your report then you have to get paid. Why do you thing you will not get paid?

I just sent them an email as well asking them where there technical support is.
I just got off the phone with them. They knew about it for a week already. How did one shopper state their attitude? Oh, I remember pompous asses. It's not their fault. Well who's fault is it? Certainly not ours.
I had two shops stuck in holding as of this morning, one for ten days and the other for fifteen days, with My History showing the shops but not finalized, and their receipts' links remaining visible at the bottom of the home page. Due to very exceptional circumstances onsite, both had required alternative photos instead of receipts, so an editor probably put them in holding to try to figure out later.
I emailed the individual whose contact information is at the top of the job search board, asking if she could help me figure out what more was needed for those shops. She replied back within two hours and had taken care of everything. They're approved and I'll be paid.
I've never had anything but positive communications with her, both by email and a few times by phone from the field.
Back when Cori first "updated" their system late December through mid-January, there was a scheduler assigned to my state that seemed to stick to the script that the trouble was on my end, not theirs. However, after a phone call, again asking for the earlier referenced supervisor, the supervisor acknowledged they were having trouble.
Within a week of that I tried pressing that compatibility button on my browser, and the computer headaches went away.
All that said, look for technical workarounds that have worked for others, and maintain the patience with them that you'd like them to maintain with you (the schedulers honestly truly don't have the problems within their own system that we're having when we try to access their system from our computers.)
When new technical problems arise, let them know, but recognize that at the scheduler level they probably can't even replicate it on their end to be able to see it all, let alone fix it with the press of a button.
A royal PITA? Sure. Should Cori fix their system? Yep.
But patience is doubly virtuous here because the more shoppers who quit in disgust, the more shops there will be and the higher the pay will be for those who wait it all out.

And when your reports are on hold, seek understanding and offer your help in resolving any concerns before you go in loaded for bear.
You'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
You’ll get paid more often, too.

HELP!!!! I have tried clicking on the torn piece at the top but it just brings me to MSN. Still get the Java error. Any other suggestions?
elcarev68

You saved me this past weekend with your compatibility view suggestion. I had problems with their system before and worked it out. Then I got a brand new laptop with Windows 8. I did a shop last week and dealt with the java script error the whole time. I worked around it by copying and pasting my narrative answers in, but it took forever and the pop-up for the java script was making me lose my mind! I did another shop for them over the weekend and tried your suggestion and bam! no java script error. It went smooth as silk...thank god because they have a lot of shops in my area...so anyway thanks for saving my time and sanity!

Glad it worked!

Were you at the Cori site at the time? Logged in? If so, try pressing it at the start of your report entry. Just once though. It should turn blue if it's activated, and you shouldn't have to press it ever again. It should stay blue for the Cori site even when you leave and then come back. I've not researched it much, just that it's supposed to fix problems new browsers have with sites designed for older browser versions.
It's site specific, so pressing it from your home page won't help when you then go to Cori.

I've not heard of it not working for anyone else who's tried it, and I've been watching the relevant threads closely.

An alternate solution would be to use a different computer with an older version of IE to enter the report (if you're having your trouble tonight, email them tonight if you can't get to another computer tonight. That way if they drop your shop before you can get it in tomorrow, you'll have the communications to back yourself up in letting them know you tried to get help after hours. And call them early tomorrow to let them know as well.)

Another option would be to enter your report using a different browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, etc.) However, while your report will almost certainly go through, it will be hit or miss as to whether they actually receive all your photos. I had tried doing that with Chrome for several reports, but was then needing to resubmit photos after getting emails from Cori with short deadlines to get the missing info. in. Not every time, but enough to need a better solution. Other posters to this forum reported the same thing with other browsers. Cori gets defensive about it then, because they want you to use only IE to submit reports, and when they receive your report it actually shows what browser you used to submit it.
