Ann Michaels & Associates - feel disappointed

Well, I just finished an assignment for this MSC and I need to vent a little.

Caveat: I don't know who makes the survey and how much the client inputs into the process.

Here's how it was sold to me:
"The report for this shop consists mainly of multiple choice ratings and very short comments for each section (3-4 sentences each)."

Well, there were 4 or 5 sections. Each section had 2 or 3 narratives. Narratives were to be between 240 and 255 characters. Can't submit until you're in this range. Some narratives were very repetitive.

Is this normal of AM&A, or is this a client induced survey?

I was very disappointed by the survey and will be hesitant to take another job for them. My hourly rate here was well below my expectation.

Well I don't know but I suspect it is the client's choice. I do a fair number of airport shops for them and the form is not like that at all. Simple and straight forward.

I've done a shop for them that has multiple choice, and then 1 long narrative. I dislike surveys that have multiple narratives, then you have to provide an overall summary at the end without repeating what you just said.

Exactly my situation. I'd rather have had one long one...

One of my biggest pet peeves about MS reports!

Practitioner of the Nerdly Arts.
I did one for them that was all multiple choice and one long narrative at the end.
All I've seen are post security airport shops.

I have done numerous airport shops for them and they required play-by-play. It was worthwhile because the fees and reimbursement is above industry standard.

I've completed their $13 furniture store shops many times, but will be hesitant after the last few have required extensive narrative with even more follow up. Not worth it for $13. I've never had a problem with any of their other shops and think they are a good company, but the furniture shop is getting old. Unless it is bonused, I won't even consider it anymore. I did email the scheduler about it when I kept getting requests for more info. Come on..they want a $50 report for $13?

Good for you MsJudi. The only way they will increase the pay or decrease the amount of work that the report entails is by not taking the shop.
Wow. I've just been sent 19 clarification questions. Many of which are so detailed that they could not have possibly gone into the report due to writing restrictions. I've asked the MSC if I have screwed up royally or if this is normal.

I am honestly considering asking them to take their measly fee back and destroy the report. I'll be lucky to earn 8$ an hour on this. Unacceptable to me.

And how much will you make per hour for the time you've ALREADY invested if you do that?

Mike,

What type of shop was this? Was it a high-end restaurant?

I've only done the take outs for a fancy winery here. That shop isn't bad. I've been thinking about doing the dine-in version for the same client, but now I'm wondering if it's worth it if the shop you're talking about is a dine.
Dine in winery restaurant - you are looking at 3 hours reporting time, on average.
I've done both the take out and dine in winery. It probably took me 2 1/2 hours for the dine in report. The food was good, but not that good. The bartender at the wine sampling wasn't very nice to me. I would do the take out if I knew I was going to be in the area.
This was a high end furniture shop.

I applied for the take out and dine in. After reading your post, I am happy, happy that I got the take out.

I just got a furniture shop offer for Ann Michaels for a $13 remuneration. I wasn't that interested before but after reading the experiences here, I wouldn't take one of those shops, so thanks very much!
If it is very high end, be wary. If not, give it a try. Just because one client has a tough report, doesn't mean others will.

I've been hesitant to try the winery, and in light of this I think I'll stay away.
Love the winery shop. Have done it more than once and I don't think I've ever had requests for more info.
Love the winery food. I would do it again.
