Spies in Disguise

I recently registered with this company and received an offer for a shop I would really like to accept. Can anyone who shops for them recommend them? Are they easy or difficult to work with? Do they pay reliably? I will have a substantial investment in this shop and it would be nice to get reimbursed! Thanks for your help.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I would recommend them. They pay reliably through Paypal. I have only done one type of shop for them. I did not have to lay out a "substantial investment".

SID and other MSCs/client have been burned by shoppers for certain types of shops which may caused for your substantial fee. Follow your guidelines and do the survey, you should be reimbursed.

I didn't like there reporting platform----->it did not allow you to save. So you had to copy and paste into a word program, which became tedious after the fourth or more question. Hopefully that has changed or gotten better.
I've done a couple of jobs for them. I did have one problem when they didn't pay me for a {oops, ICA violation - let's just say restaurant} shop. I didn't get an itemized receipt, but got the credit card receipt, and Spies in Disguise wouldn't accept it and pay me for the job. After you spend a good penny on lunch and tip and then not get reimubursed, made me mad. I asked them what do you do when you get a reciept, pay it and then you get the pay folder back from the waiter and they walk away and that's all you get? I asked was I supposed to wait for him to walk back holding food for another customer and ask him to get me my itemized receipt? Go to the manager? I mean, really, who does that? I would think that not giving the customer the itemized receipt back would be a reflection of the waiter, not the mystery shopper.
I understand that they need the receipt to make sure I ordered the things I was supposed to, but I did have a receipt with the total amount and did it in good faith. They could have least paid for gas or something. Oh well! Live and learn.

Just so I don;t violate. The Xx's are mine smiling smileysmiling smiley
Next time take the receipt to the RR and capture a pic of it. Especially, in this world of camera phones and what nots. You could of tell the waitress you will need a copy of the receipt for taxes purposes for your boss to make sure you did not order any ETOH. grinning smileygrinning smiley
I just don't give back the itemized receipt. I put it in my purse immediately and put my credit card down. Sometimes they bring a second itemized receipt (since I took the original) and sometimes they do not. Either way, I already have mine. If for some reason I do not get an itemized bill, I ask for one - saying you are traveling and need to file itemized receipts with your expense report works great. As the employee of a state agency, I can tell you that when I do travel, I am required to submit itemized receipts in order to be reimbursed (this is because my agency will not reimburse me for alcoholic beverages or for any tip that I chose to leave).
I normally take the receipt out before handing the folder back to the server. They usually have it on their computer and don't actually need your copy. If, on those few times the server says he needs the receipt to process payment, I just ask him if he will return it afterwards. I will tell him something like I'm tracking my food for medical reasons or for my diet, or I might say I need the itemized bill for reimbursement from work or anything else that comes to mind at the time.
If they don't give you your itemized receipt then you say you are getting reimbursed from your employer and need it for reimbursement. They will provide it without blinking. Nearly all restaurants I have ever done say that the itemized is required, so it is part of the job to make sure you get it.

Yes - and if they answer with a negative, don't blink, just request again, calmly and without argument and without apologizing (no "I'm sorry to be a problem" or "sorry for your inconvenience"winking smiley. For "I threw it away," without blinking or hesitating say "It's OK, please print me another." If they say they "don't know how," without hesitation say "It's ok, please call the manager to help you." No need to get angry or confrontational, just be sweet but firm. Asking for a receipt for your purchase is not an unreasonable request nor is it even unusual.
I've done a few wings shops for Spies in Disguise, and find them to be reasonable. They review your report and pay very timely (usually within a few weeks). I would recommend them.
I was a waitress for 15 years. I can't possibly count the hundreds of times I've been asked for the itemized receipt or it was taken by my guest before I actually took their card. I always chalked it up to business reimbursements and never gave it a second thought. So yeah, you should ask.

This is true. Don't let that receipt out of your sight for a moment.

^They still have a lot of the locations in my area. The new company that has some of the other locations sends out tons and tons of emails. I had to unsubscribe because I was getting 20 or more emails a day.
