I think that's totally normal.. you could list other things other than the person's race. Generally, shops don't want to know that kind of information (unless you're doing some kind of federal govt shop). You could have included eye colour, facial hair, what he was wearing, age estimate, etc,. You can be descriptive without mentioning their race and I think that is likely why you received a 9 and not a 10.
