Service Sleuth

Anyone have any experience with them? They have a handful of shops by me but I've never worked for them. I did apply for a shop several days ago, but they still have not accepted it. Is that normal?

Yeah, that's what I applied for smiling smiley. How long does it usually take for them accept someone to do a shop?
Kern usually schedules for SS.....and they are usually slow to get back to you with an acceptance. Service Sleuth pays slow but always pays right according to their stated payment terms.
I have only done one shop for this MSC. I did the shop on the 3rd of May and was not paid until the 25th of July.
They are slow to pay but it is according to the schedule. I like the two types of shops I perform for them.
I do mostly their oil shops, but just got my first movie....difficult to get, I've been with them for years, finally got a movie. Reliable company, their great burger place has an age limit on it, so I'm out on that one.

Live consciously....
They must be lacking in shoppers here, the movie was the first shop I got for them. It was a lot of fun even though it was a lot of work. Probably won't do one again soon though as the pay was way too low for the time spent.

I like their pseudo Philadelphia food chain shops.....some cash for the report and a full stomach, no complaints here! They do pay slow BTW but they do pay and I'm OK with that as the shops I have done for them do not tie up all that much cash anyway.

No, at least the Yankee ones I've done aren't with SS. Can't tell you who does Yankee, as it would be a violation of the ICA.
Well then how would one come start shopping for yankee candle? If its in violation how did you find out? I have done shops for hollister, verizon, and five guys but i have heard yankee has them and wanted to know where to get started. Can anyone help me know where i would go to be a secret shopper for them?

pm me
velarissa24, there are hundreds of MSCs. There's a link at the bottom of this page that takes you to the list, and the list has links to the MSC site. If you are just starting, you may want to begin signing up with ten or twenty MSCs. Read different parts of the forum for ideas on which MSCs sound interesting to you. Reading the Mystery Shopping Company Discussion forum may help you decide which MSCs would be a good fit for you.

There's just no fast and easy way. It takes determination, research and time. Happy reading, and shoppingsmiling smiley

Yep. Just sign up with lots of companies, and you'll eventually find it.

Velarissa, the others of us who know which company has Yankee Candle as a client have found that out because we are registered with the company. That's how it works. Mystery shoppers register with a company and sign an Independent Contractor Agreement (ICA), which usually includes a confidentiality statement. After signing the ICA, a mystery shopper is able to view the company's client list. Many of us are very serious about the ICAs that we sign with the mystery shopping companies. Revealing the names of any of a company's clients, whether in a PM, an e-mail, or on the open forum, would be a violation of those agreements. It also violates our forum's guidelines, "Do not reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies." To get a good volume of clients in your area, register with a lot more companies. Many of us are registered with 150 or more.

You get 15.00 at the recession counter, that should get you popcorn and drink...smiling smiley I love the movies and since they just raised prices here (again), now 9.50 just to get in, it's a fun day for me.

recession counter huh? lol just makes me giggle because of the cost of going to the movies these days.
I've done a few shops with them (not a lot, just 5). They pay very slow, but they're on time. What I found with SS is that the editors are really really picky. I never had more than a 8 with them, where I most of the time get a 10 with other companies.

And for their burger restaurants shops, the survey is VERY long (not worth the 5$ fee that they add to the reimbursement)
Completely legitimate company. I have worked for them since 1999. They pay when they say they'll pay. Not sooner.
Job board shops are simple and easy. Just follow the directions. Not all of the shops offered are on the job boards. They've got me on speed dial.
I really loved doing their shops. However, I've done 5 since August and NO PAY. You guys were saying above they are slow? How slow is slow? lol I have 2 AUG. shops not paid and the 2 for SEPT. I figured the SEPT. would take at least a month. Do they take 60 days?
I'll give you $5 to take that jpg out of your signature.

Mine? Why don't you quote me and/or address my name then? I feel like this is the third grade here. I assumed since the forum "allowed" a sig and it's a great tool to "find" your post that it was ok. I didn't realize people hated it. Why not be nice and send me a private message?

I take paypal mleighb@aol.com

Their main page now says that they are paying August shops by November 8th. Usually, it is 60 days after the last day of the month in which they were completed, but lately they have been sneaking a few days on top of that.

Always take the high road.
Because my post was right under yours and you are the ONLY person that has a jpg in their signature so I didn't feel the need to quote you. I didn't send you a PM because it was mostly a joke.

I see a whole slew of certification tests for them, but I don't see the study guides. What am I missing?

....maybe she held her breath waiting for the PMs containing ICA violaitions to come pouring in and that's why she hasn't been back.
Austin, I'm shocked more people haven't ripped her a new one yet for asking this question!
