Coyle and Shopmetrics

Hello. I am new to Mystery Shopping. I completed one shop and did well. Have not gotten paid yet but states it is on the 20th (it is only the 15th now so I'll see how that goes). I had a couple of questions about my PayPal account but no one answered them.

I would like to sign up with other companies. I got an email from Coyle Hospitality Group for an upscale lounge evaluation nearby. Is Coyle and Shopmetrics a decent (and legal) place to apply??

I am a bit hesitant giving all my personal information for all these companies (SSN, birthdate, etc) not even knowing if I will be working with them or not - or if they even have shops in my area.

And, I am not sure if this is ironic or not...but as soon as I started applying for Mystery Shopping jobs, I have been getting all these Pop-ups on my computer and I am hoping this is not a virus.

Wondering if this is all worth it??

Hi Liz,
I don't know about Shopmetrics, but Coyle is a legit company. I am relatively new, too, but have not gotten one shop from Coyle. I have gotten several from other companies. I am getting ready to just give up on Coyle, but haven't thought about it that much until I read your post!
Good luck, and I am sure giving your information is fine. Make sure they are registered with the MSPA, which is the Mystery Shopping Organization.
Take care!

Hi Liz,

Coyle is a legit company and they have two websites. Can't think of the full web address off the top of my head for their second website but it has the word "shopmetrics" in it. This is where you can see your assignments and get your paperwork, etc.

I'm registered with just under 100 companies and have had no difficulties regarding my information. As long as the data entry page address starts with "https", I feel comfortable that it is as secure as anywhere else.

Make sure you have good anti-virus software, keep it up to date, sign up with the reputable companies provided at the bottom of this page and you will be fine.

Best wishes to your success!

Shopmetrics is just the platform that runs the website. They're legit through and through.
Woah. I didn't know coyle had a shopmetrics page too. Does one have to apply separately from the other website?

Hello, Man. Mystery shopping is mostly a self taught business, but you can learn a tremendous amount by reading this forum. No one has time to walk you through each detail of getting started and making the business work, but there are some things you can do to help yourself. (1) Go to the New Shoppers section of this forum and read all the threads that are listed first and marked "sticky". This will give you a lot of getting started information. (2) At the bottom of each page of the forum there is a link to the Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies. You need to start signing up with companies and stay with that project until you have signed up with 150 or more. (3) Each company will have instructions (guidelines) and perhaps tutorials on their shops. Study these, they will be very helpful.

Hi, Man, welcome to the forum. Mary explained it great. It's a lot more involved than just walking you through it a process. Mystery shopping means starting your own small business so it takes a lot of time up front to read everything and understand how to start the business. The time you spend setting up your business and registering with mystery shopping companies will pay off in available jobs. The more jobs you do, the more money you will make. To get started, go to the Frequently Asked Questions:

Most of Coyle restaurant and hotel are great, in the 4 star category, with a few in the 3's. Recently, I had a lounge that was really a dump. Has anyone experienced this? What do you do when you arrived and discovered the place is not what you think it is?

Coyle is fine-

MS companies buy software to handle their reports, assigning etc. There are three main ones. Sassie, its the oldest and most widely used. Small fonts and that system bombards you with the same jobs over and over and over.

Prophet IMO, is the best but it depends on whose software the MS buys!
I hate ShopMetrics- both in looking for jobs and entering reports its just a hassle!

But truthfully , I check my companies that use Prophet more than Sassie - they are self assign - all of them !
look up Prophet mystery shopping (should be Arch something) they will give you a list of their clients!

Some if these may have switched to another platform but it gives you an idea of how it works!

Shopmetrics website deletes the shop once you completed it. So you have to keep track of it yourself,, which ones are paid and which ones are pending. In addition, you do not get a score from the editors. I have found that their editors are more demanding than the regular Coyle shops. Perhaps they are newbies and need to prove themselves to the company?
I did a restaurant shop for Coyle Shopmetrics and was emailed an evaluation after asking the scheduler where I could find it.
