ACE - menu audit

Has anyone done a menu audit for ACE? A quick view of the guidelines asked for photos of the paper menu; however, the actual shop I would have selected only has take out menus with no prices. That shop would require photos of menu boards, cases and displays in order to capture prices, plus a photo of the building, all for the whopping sum of $10. it seem the amount of work required is going up, while the fees are dropping.

I've done a few of these for them. They are super nice actually. The last one took me all of 6 minutes. If you can work one of these in to your shops for the day I'd say go for it. It is just snapping a few pictures and that's it. They didn't care about the size of the pics, the order I sent them in or nothing. They just needed clear, close up pictures where you can read the prices easily. I asked for a small bonus and they gave me one then they increased my next shop without me asking for the bonus. They are also easy to get ahold of if you need help. The only thing I don't like is they use PayQuicker and not PayPal. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

I also had a question about these. How would you take a photo of the price display discreetly? One place is fairly small and often not busy and the customer service is very good so they are at the counter immediately waiting to help you?

Any pointers?
I was going to use the shop to fill in today, since it's in the same shopping center as my other shops. But there are a row of menu boards, plus the bakery displays, all leading to a longer shop than the ones I have scheduled. I guess it depends on the restaurant. An actual menu would be much easier.
What I did at a small restaurant was walk in and order something small( think fries or a scone etc) then I snapped a few pics, they looked at me funny. So I just said, were having a big meeting next week and my boss wanted some lunch options. I hope you don't mind me suggesting your place to him? They said of course not and that was that. I used me reciept for that one instead of the address since they had no visible address on the building. Getting the cross streets sign was not an option since it was showing very hard that night and visibility was pretty much nothing. They accepted it no problem.

Marg, your right an actual menu would be easier. They don't need pics of the displays, only pics of signs with prices on them like a sign with a chicken sandwich for 2.99. And the menu of course.

A bonused Multiple Men burger shop opened up in the same shopping center, so I grabbed that. I like ACE - they do seem really nice but they don't have a lot in my area.
They don't have a lot in mine either, but they're nice so I check their site daily. smiling smiley

I did one for ACE for a restaurant that had a kids' menu that I didn't know about. I went in and said I needed to take the laminated menu out for my elderly mother to look over in the car for a minute if they didn't mind. They said no problem. I took the menu out to my car and took photos of it, then brought it back. After submitting the photos, ACE emailed me about the kids' menu. I emailed back that I didn't think this restaurant had one. They emailed me back that they were sure that they did. The kids' menu was not on the counter at the front where they laminated menus were and there was not a children's section on the main menu. The kids' menu was a placemat that they put down for people who come in with kids. Since I did not have a child with me and did not sit down, this menu was not available to me. I had to go back to the restaurant the next day and ask for one to take with me, then took photos of it at home. I had only taken the shop intially because I had some other shops on that side of town. It ended up costing me more in gas than I made off of the shop.

I've never tried one, because since I don't have a decent camera phone (flip fone with 1.5 mp camera ~ ha!) there's no way I could be discreet in the restaurant.

Even with a nice camera phone, how do you get "up close" photos of menu boards, which are usually behind the counter over the employee's heads, discreetly?!

Although I do like Lelou's thing about taking it to recommend to someone.

Trust me the employees probably just write us off as a "weirdo" that came in during their shift. One restaurant the guy insisted on me taking the catering menu as well, which was a brochure, so I said sure and took that then proceeded to take my pictures. If you don't have a smart phone with decent camera...it's a bit trickier. I always have my tablet with me(though it doesn't have a zoom feature that I'm aware of) my smart phone with a 3mp camera(which is slow at taking pictures) and I was lucky and bought an iPhone that doesn't work for calling since the speaker is broken or something. It has saved my butt. You can download tons of apps over over wifi that don't need an active data connection to use. More importantly iPhones have a decent camera and no delay. Check ebay or craigslist for a cheap iPhone and if you can fit me into your budget, I highly recommend it.
