Jm Ridgeway.....

Does anyone have recent experience with JM Ridgeway, and if so, was it negative, positive, or neutral? I have signed up for two shops with them I feel a little edgy about so I thought I'd ask you folks here what you think of this MSC? Any input is appreciated.....

I have never experienced any problems. When I initially started shopping with them though, I read on the forum about potential payment problems and shoppers suggested contacting Ann if you have any problems.

Her contact info is:

I understand that she is v-e-r-y responsive, if need be.

The shops I have done for them have been paid without any problems...

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
Good experiences. Pay is on the slower spectrum but I get good feedback on my reports. Did a special project for them a couple of months ago. Was interesting.

I love working for Ridgeway. Scheduler is great and they often bonus their shops as time goes on. I haven't had any difficulty with payment issues as I think they are on a 90-day pay schedule.
In my early days of shopping for them, which was 2011 and I think into 2012 some... I did have to email Ann every single time for payment. She was indeed very responsive, and I'd have my money almost immediately. But it was a little annoying to have to 'remind' them to pay me.

However, for some time now, I've been paid on time, without having to 'remind' anybody.

I like the schedulers I've worked with, also. (Nikki and Paula.) And the jobs are good and pay decently (or better) for what they are. And, after I just recently did some shops for one of their special projects, I got some very positive, encouraging, and downright sweet remarks back from them. (:

I recently did some shops for them. I thought the guidelines were easy to follow and the reports had some narratives, but nothing I don't really expect anymore. I haven't been paid yet, but understand they pay in 45 days...hopefully.
They used to require reminders in order to get paid. For at least the last two years, they have reformed and now pay on schedule without reminders (as it should be). I wish they had more shops in my area.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
They still say 45 days for some reason. My experience has not included have to ask for payment, but payment is about 60 days.

They just proved me wrong. Was paid today for October shops. For some reason I thought they only paid around the 20th of the month so it was a pleasant surprise to get the money at 48 days out.

I like this company and so far they have paid me when they said they would. I usually wait until their shops are bonused before taking them. The scheduler is nice to work with and tries to accommodate the shopper.
Nikki is definitely one of the best schedulers around.

Shopped for them her and there for years. You used to have to remind them to get paid but the last one I did I got payment without asking. Just did one shop this week. So in 45 to 60 days we shall see if I get paid without having to ask.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
I haven't had to remind them in close to two years. My prediction is that you will get paid automatically.

There was a temporary issue a couple of years and I don't remember how long it lasted. Most reports over the last year or two have indicated the problems were resolved and payments are according to terms again.

I had a horrendous experience with them a few years ago, but I've not shopped since. Had some shops taken out from under me while I was doing a route, becuase 'another shopper wanted a route'. I had done a bunch of shops and while on the way home to report them, I started receiving very mysterious calls telling me not to complete them. Calls came from blocked numbers and I could barely understand them or get a name of who the person was calling me.

Ultimately, I was able to enter the shops and we cleared up the whole situation but it was very poor taste on their part and the scheduler seemed to have no idea what she was doing. I had payment issues just like the others have said, but I did end up getting paid after many emails.
I've had absolutely no problems with JM Ridgeway and payment has always been at PayPal at the 45 day mark. I also agree with other posters who say Nikki and Paula are terrific schedulers!
I've been with JM Ridgeway since 2007, and have had pretty good experiences with their clients. Yes, they have had payment issues in the past (slowness), but they have never NOT paid me. The shops that they offer have been fun, even to the point of actually laughing out loud at some of their guidelines (i.e., "do not ask if the leasing consultant is pregant."winking smiley.

I'll keep working for them. Great company to use as filler work on long routes.
Now that we've settle the payment issues with them, can anyone tell me anything about their furniture shops? There's a series of 3 in the same strip available near me. I don't mind the pay for what they say is the minimum time required in each "store". Can you finish all 3 in an hour? Are they easy reports or narrative-heavy? Do you feel they're worth the effort? Thank you!
I like this company a lot so far. I do not find their reports narrative heavy but have only done grocery stores. I am doing a furniture store later this week and will let you know!
I believe the minimum time spent per furniture store must be 20 minutes. For the mattress shops, I never had a sales associate complete his sales pitch in under 20 minutes. I find the other furniture stores do tend to go quicker, depending on if you have to wait for assistance that is. Finishing all three stores in 60 minutes would be the minimum time possible.
You should also factor in the time it takes to write the paint-us-a-picture narrative. When I was a new shopper, I did one mattress shop for $10.00....and nev-va ever again, thank you.

I've done mattress shops at $25 - I about fainted when I saw similar ones offered at $10-$12! I don't think so. If I can combine those three furniture/mattress shops, it might be worth it. It's really close to where a lot of other shops are, so I may give it a try once.
I generally do mattress shops for $25. Another MSC offers mattress shops with the same client for $10.........10-foot pole, although they seem to have no problem scheduling those $10 shops. The Ridgway 3-in-a-row is worth it to me if I get all 3 and will be in that area.
I have never been paid in less than 60 days, but they pay. It is best to talk to a woman over there, because a year ago when I called for payment a man made me so mad I told him to deactivate me and to do something to himself. (winking smiley) Anyway, the woman got me back about 9 months later. They have very few shops in my area that I can do, but this time they paid in their 60 day timeframe two times so I guess they are fine now.

I've done quite a few of these shops. Some of the ones near me have 4 in the strip you can do. They are heavily bonused in my area toward the end of the month, mainly because of the rotation cycle being LONG. The reports get a little long, but given what I usually get paid (double or more than you quoted), it works out into my pay minimums. You could get done in close to an hour. I have found that to keep it close to the 20 minute mark for the furniture stores you need to have a specific item in mind--table and chairs or whatever. My first shops I went in with a "we are redoing our basement and need furniture" so I got showed too much stuff grinning smiley. Have a fake name, address and email handy because they will ask. The scheduler is one of the nicest I work for and willing to deal on the shopper pay grinning smiley. They are actually one of my favorite shops because I can usually get a days pay out of the "route" and then add in some quick gas station shops or something along the way for a nice paycheck.
