About Face shop fee question?

I have not shopped for About Face. I recently received a shop offer for $5. You need to purchase a small item, take a picture, interact with merchandisers, upload a brochure, and more. I would never shop for this fee. Does anyone know if this is their normal type of shop for the fee?

Are you registered with them, and did you check the board?
I only see shops currently ranging $20 - $35.

I am registered and live in New England. There were very few shops in my area. None for $20 or $35 dollars.
My mistake. On my board are shops for $25 and $30, none at $20 or $35.
Since you are registered, poke around the board to get a feel for what they have. Since you're in New England, I checked Boston area and saw shops for $30, 25, 15 (bonused deli), 8 (bonused deli) and 5 (deli). The deli shops look like they could easily be done with 15 minutes on site, 5-15 minutes reporting, and you do get reimbursed for 1/4 pound lunch meat.
That is the most that they pay and they can be a pain in the neck. Their instructions are not clear and then you have to go back to the shop and do something b/c you did not follow the rules.
Hi there! I'm new to the board. I do shops for About Face often, as they have many shops in San Francisco. They pay very well; however, they are very particular about your shop report. They like a lot of narrative. The editors are always complimentary and give useful feedback. These shops are definitely ones I perform when I have energy.
I have been shopping for About Face for years and they have been nothing but nice to me! Each shopper's situation can be different but for me, it has been totally positive. Shop pay might not be that great but they do pay for the service that they are asking you to perform and most times that is enough for me. Also, all of the office personnel that I have had interactions with have been both professional and positive!
I have done some of their targeted makeup shops. They were "bonused" at the time, but they don't actually list bonuses, they just change the shopper fee in their listings. The shops were not too bad. The hardest part was finding the target. I went to one store a couple of times after verifying when the target would be there, and they still weren't there. The scheduler told me to do the report stating what had happened, and I would be paid the full amount (I was). And they paid like clockwork - I think it's 45 days after shop completion.

I had a similar issue. My target WAS there, but told me she was ill and leaving for the day, because she didn't want to spread her germs around. The interaction happened so quickly I forgot to get a business card from her, but AboutFace accepted my store photo as proof and paid me for the shop.
