Clearly some schedulers think we do this for fun and the money is just a bonus.

In some cases, this is true.

I was told by a scheduler at another company that they can get people to drive across town to go an $8 retail shop all day long. The schedulers can't figure out why they do it either. Honestly, they were laughing at the "shoppers" who did that.

Yes, I have had schedulers act like I'm crazy when I say it would take a bonus to make me drive a certain distance, and they say "well, SOME shoppers just do it for us to help us out." Surprisingly, more than one has seemed clueless - I've wondered if it's part of the "sales talk" script designed to get shoppers to take shops without bonuses. "Nice" shoppers will work without a bonus, those who want a bonus are ....... business-minded?
When a MSC shows me the paperwork for their 501c status I'll think about "helping them out." It always blows my mind to hear people doing just that when MSCs are a for profit business. Unless it is part of developing or maintaining a business relationship how will the shopper explain taking all those assignments at a loss if the IRS decides to take a closer look at their income and deductions.

Maritz definitely has their quirks, but I've found their quirks work in my favor much more often than not so I kinda love 'em.
How about the "please, please help us out pleas, etc" from the MSC's who then have the nerve to offer $6.00 fees. Anyone ever get any of those?

I see it as just part of the business. And they probably say the same about me... Who's this shopper with the nerve to ask for $100+ bonuses?!
I have a love/hate relationship with Maritz. I avoided them in the past, but since they have acquired a few big clients, I have shopped them much more. Getting a decent bonus for the time and distance is difficult, but not impossible. Sometimes they find someone cheaper, and I understand that. It's all about business. If I am shopping close to their locations, sometimes I'll take one without the bonus. There have been times I have heard the attitude about my price, but most schedulers are professional and polite. They are different than most msc's. They have definitely experienced some growing pains the last year, changes have been made, and there will probably more changes. It's a little harder to adjust when you are used to a certain procedure. I take the good with the bad because I have had good bonuses with them.
I think your post sums it up... As someone said in another thread, they have a *lot* of new schedulers. Hopefully in time everyone will be on the same page.

Overall they're good people and the remaining company that I've been with the longest at 20 years now. The last time they were totally desperate and told me to name my price. I did and they approved it in less than 5 minutes. I thought $300 was a fair price to do one of the hardware stores.

$300.00 to do one hardware store! Wow, I can see why you think "overall they're good people".

I felt honored when a scheduler told me last December that I was on her personal "go-to" list. They've always been fair to me, paid on time and treated me with basic respect that many MSC's don't bother with.

Maritz is a first rate company and they're one of my favorites. I do probably 90% or more of my jobs with them. I don't work in all their programs but I work in several. They are absolutely top notch overall.

Have anybody notices that as of 3/1/15, the grocery shops are now $1 reimbursed purchase, down from $3? I guess it's time to wait for those bonus incentives.smiling smiley Another reason to read the guidelines each month.

I did not notice that, companies that offer $1.00 reimburse do not seem to realize that including tax you are over $1.00 and eating into your profit. Thanks for the heads up!

It can be a challenge finding something to buy at $1, that isn't a waste of money. If you can't buy something you would normally buy anyway, then buy something you like and consider it a treat at $1 off. I generally buy flavored iced teas, as I love tea but can't make the flavored ones at home. So I treat myself a little, and that makes me happy. Or maybe I should say happier, because I'm already a very happy person.
They have 2 / $1 lunch pies at the grocery shops. My dad likes those. He is going to be getting more of them
The new reimbursement for the grocery shops sucks. But they also reduced the photo requirements. One of the questions about the cashier offering you a bag doesn't make a lot of sense when you would have to buy it for five cents, and you only bought a .99 cent box of tissues.
But they keep offering them to me at my asking price so I keep showing up and buying my box of tissues. :-)

The bonus offers on the other shops have been laughable since the start of the new year. That and the new restrictions on distance and area code for the banks makes it harder to cobble something together. I need more money to buy something else to wear with a new wig because my local shops are starting get a glint of recognition when I walk in the door :-D
There was a few photo requirements to submit with the report other than the 2 depts. and receipt. The other photos was only select based on the number of non=compliant. It seems like if there were under five non compliancy then no photos were needed. Other than the three photos it seemed like the other photos were optional or report select.

The three dollar reimbursement was never a problem but when one fills in the invoice is when you need to know for sure what the mSC is only going to reimbursed. These grocery shops are good for staples----milk butter cheese water vinegar and maybe some meats.
I usually bring my own bags and very seldom buy them, although they are only ....$03 what is the need to adding more bags to my stash. You don't have to buy the bags just report if they offered the bags to us.
