BARE testing

I'm looking at the BARE job board today, and I get a notice that even after completing multiple shops for them (and being paid for such) I can no longer accept shops until I pass their 'BARE Basics' test. Is this normal?

It is new. So far, I have not taken it and have not been prevented from getting shops. Guess I will take the test since the message gets annoying.

I had the same happen with a company. I was unaware of the tests. And did a couple shops, and then a red pop up showed telling me I had to pass the tests to go any further. After calling and speaking with them in person, I was told to complete the tests even though I had already worked and been paid, they only allow you so many, basically to make sure your going to stick around and not give up to easy. After completing the tests... And there were many..... I received better high paying jobs and more jobs than I was receiving, because I qualified for them by passing the tests.
Bare Basics V.2 I had passed a while back but definitely not 2013 as it says on my log because I remember taking it this year. But it keeps on showing the only test I have to pass is the English Test for Evaluators outside of US/Can/UK which I did pass a number of times. It still says 'available' ''take test.'' It's a very easy test but now I am ignoring it. There must be a glitch.

Thanks for the information. I've been ignoring the notice that I have to pass the 'BARE Basics' test, but it sounds like it's worth the hassle.

If I recall, taking the Basics test then permitted me to access more advance tests which resulted in access to more interesting, and better paid, opportunities.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I have been shopping for them for years and still am. This new test requirement just popped up and not taking it doesn't stop me from requesting or self-assigning shops.

Actually, I took the Basics after shopping for them for 8 years, with great reviews, and then was offered more advanced training and tests and did see new shop opportunities.

Is anyone having issues with the test being incredibly slow? It's being ridiculous for me.
It was very fast. I sped right through it. I found it easy, and it would have been useful to a new shopper. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that because you are experienced, that you don't have to pay attention to the video at the end. The quiz is based on the video.

I wonder if there's multiple versions of the test. Mine did not have a video componant. There were photo slides of various store componants, and questions about the photos at the end.

The photo slides and photos are what myst is talking about. Observe what is in the pictures. The test asks questions about what is shown in the pictures to determine if you are observant.
You are correct. Guess I was hitting the advance to next slide button so fast that it seemed like a video was playing. Sorry for the confusion. smiling smiley

Bah! It was my computer. Flash was acting wonky, so I'm retaking it today. Most of the slides are fine, but some are a bunch of words layered on top of other words.
so i took it again got code then what confused me after entering the code'
you think you are finished but your? not you have to scroll down to finish
then you are told it has to be graded'now
does anyone know how long that will take?

It takes about 2 business days to be graded.

Maybe they will surprise you. Who knows. I found that I was able to assign and apply for shops even before I took the test. I wasn't going to bother, but was encouraged to do so here. I am not sure that I have personally seen a change. I got an email from them when it was graded, even though I had already received a grade at the end of the exam. Seems like an odd system.

Thanks to all your comments I went to their site and took/passed the test. I have not yet done any shops for them but maybe this will open up some.
The test is really simple. Apparently, they've had this around for a while but did not require it. Now they are slowly requiring everyone to take it. Truly, if you've done any mystery shopping at all, it's quick and no hassle -- common sense stuff. I'd advise doing it and getting it overwith.
For me the grading took place on the day after I took the test.
