And grocery stores too, I noticed... but I thought since some were shops, some were audits maybe that's why different MSCs were listing the same grocery stores.
They can spread around the business. One national pizza chain has no less than 4 MSPs shopping their restaurants in my area. Maybe they want different perspectives. Maybe the MSPs sell them on the idea their service is different of better. Maybe different parts or services of the bank are being shopped by different MSPs. Maybe some are competitor shops (although not for banks, I think). Maybe some are supplier shops. Look at big box electronic stores. There is one in my area that has several MSPs shopping different company's salespeople, like Microsoft, HP and others.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
Banks order competitor shops all the time.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Competitor shops, whether they are a bank or other type, are important both to see what your competitor is doing and as part of evaluating whether to try to buy out the competitor.
There are a lot of reasons why you see what appear to be the same or similar shop, especially at big box retailers. The retailer orders their own, competitor shops and vendors shopping to check both product placement and how associates are presenting them. A Best Buy or Lowe's could conceivably be shopped a dozen or more times in a given month by as many different MSCs.

Thanks! This shopping for so many different MSCs is new to me. Thanks to the spreadsheet Flash posted and another simple one that I have been gathering MSC and client info, otherwise I would have a hard time keeping MSC and clients straight.
LlJake,

Didn't even think to use the same shop for two MSCs. But good reminder, thx! I only just signed up for one to inquire about credit cards. That seems easy enough. I did see a shop for another bank that pays $100 just to go in and open a credit card but I really don't want anymore credit cards, and the bank pulling a credit report even though the shop fee sure is tempting.
Another reason you may see multiple msc's shopping for the same company is because sometimes the stores/restaurants/etc are franchises.

For example, a burger chain has franchise locations owned by the same franchisee 25 miles around me. The locations beyond that are owned by someone else, whether corporate or other franchises.

Consequently, one msc has the shop for the local franchisee, while all the other locations witin 200 miles are shopped by a different msc.

Obviously the franchise explanation does not apply to banks, but it is true for many other types of locations.
