regal

Hey everyone, I got my first opportunity to do a regal hotel shop... do they pay back quick? Or anyone know their payschedule? It also seems that there reports are through excel, is this correct? On the main login page it says to not fill out reports via wireless internet? That didn't make sense to me... am I missing something?? Feedback would be great! Thanks guys! smiling smiley

newmom,
Regal pays anywhere from 40-90 days, but usually within 60 days. I have never seen the directions about not using wireless Internet. I use whatever Internet connection the hotel provides. And, it is the Buckalew reports that were in Excel, the last time I looked, not RHG.

Welcome to the forum!

Per their website, "The check reimbursements will be mailed, within 90 days from the date of the shop." For my first hotel shop with them, the payment was a little late and there was a little hassle but since then they have always paid in under 90 days and my most recent hotel shop was paid in just over 60 days.

Reports are not done in excel, but your reimbursement itemization will be. Reports are submitted through their online reporting format. They advise against filling out reports via wireless internet to prevent loss of your report should things become disconnected. I always write up the report in a word document and then copy it over when I'm finished.

Good luck and enjoy.

Ah yes, the Expense report is in a nice simple-to-use Excel template. Thanks for the reminder. The expense report is so innocuous that it just didn't register.

i thought this thread was about the new movie theater rule of checking all bags and backpacks.
Good point, Ninja. I just did a theater shop the other day and was a little taken aback by the backpack search. Good thing my notes were not visible. I wasn't driving at the time so had them with me. I know that's a no-no but I had no choice. Just make sure you don't bring in food or drink, they are looking for that more than mystery shoppers I think, and it would negate your shop if found out. I got a 10 rating so....good for me.
Yes I saw the 90 day thing but I wasn't sure if you had to Hassel them for it or if it was on point. And ok the Internet thing was weird to me lol thanks for the feedback!

They are not looking for MS'ers or patrons sneaking in candy and drinks. They are searching for weapons and suspicious packages due to the recent theater shootings across the country.

Thank god because I'm a cheap bastard who always smuggles in a bottle of water. I let the theater make a killing on me when I buy snacks or sodas, but I drink a lot of water, so I always have one with me if I'm going to be somewhere for 2 hours.

I always carry a large bottle of H2O with me also. I gave up soda, iced tea and I do not drink coffee so that does not leave me with much. I rarely get spoken to about the water bottle but if/when they do, I tell them I have a medical condition and I need to stay dehydrated.
"John Bender: Uh, Dick? Excuse me; Rich. Will milk be made available to us?
Andrew Clark: We're extremely thirsty, sir.
Claire Standish: I have a really low tolerance for dehydration.
Andrew Clark: I've seen her dehydrate, sir. It's pretty gross."

"The Breakfast Club"
I did my first Regal shop on 6/3, a hotel breakfast buffet. I have yet to receive my payment. I was told 60-90 days -- apparently the latter.

On a side note, doesn't it seem pretty stupid not to check the men somehow since the shooters have been male? I do applaud theaters for at least doing some sort of checks.
I am considering taking my first assignment with Regal away from home. I am newly registered and see a two night stay that works perfectly in my travel plans. I have been mystery shopping for almost three years and have a dozen or so overnights with ACL, Five Diamond, LRA, Data Quest and Merc combined with no major issues. Does anyone know if your are busy from start to finish on a two night stay? I think all of the companies I have done before, I can do and still have a little bit of down time except Five Diamond. It may be a moot point as I sent an email asking for clarification for guests/companions. I see that guests are ok over 18 for the food outlets. This would not be too much of a problem. However, I have an almost 18 year old daughter that I would like to have stay in the room.. so if that is not permissible then it doesn't matter, but still curious about down time during a 2 night stay.
In my experience, a two night Regal stay is not as nearly as bad as Five Diamond, but it came pretty close in terms of free time. I write my reports while I'm at the hotel. I had time to go out to lunch one day on the Regal stay, but that was about it.
With Regal I would definately start with a one night stay to get accustomed to the report style, expectations and editing quirks. Their two night stays are often a quantum leap more time consuming, not just twice as busy as a one day stay.

Thanks for the info. I think I will pass this time. It is a vacation and I don't want to get in too deep and have to be chained to the hotel during that time.

Also it appears to me they have both regular 2 night stays and the 2 night intense integrity audits, which look less difficult but significantly more time consuming to me.

It's been awhile since I did one of their reports, but I think you have to write in the third person (referring to you and your companion as "the guests" and not saying "we" or "I"winking smiley, or am I thinking of a different company?
I've only done one bar visit for them but yes, I think you are correct if my memory serves me.

Regal has been great- they pay after 60-90 days by check. I have seen the warning about not using wireless to complete reports, but I have not had an issue with this. I tested the waters carefully, just to be sure that my information was saving.

If the availability screen shows a place and only one form (like a bar form or a breakfast buffet form or a room form), does that mean that only the bar is being shopped? Even if the sample form shows more? I don't want to get blindsided and the pay is lousy. The only real benefit is the points. Does anyone know whether they reverse or reimburse? That would really suck if the points backed out.
Hi east. Welcome to the Forum. If only one form is showing, then that is all you do. That is not an overnight stay. You pay cash for the bar and breakfast shops, and they reimburse you. For the hotel stays, some are reversed, and some are reimbursed.
Thank you. It is an overnight stay, but only has the one form. Maybe that one IS worth it.

Not always true. I suggest that you go into the reporting area and see what's there. I almost got totally screwed on the last job by missing a bar that was not on page 1.

Oh, they don't always reverse. I am currently waiting on a large payment. Sigh.
How long do you generally have to wait when it's reimbursed rather than reversed, SCM? Does anyone know how to see whether you're till an A shopper with them vs. a B shopper?

OK. Possibly a dumb question regarding the hotel stays with Regal, but I see the pay is $75 plus reimbursement. Are the room charges reimbursed? Thanks.
Either the room charges will be reimbursed or the credit card charge will be reversed, depending on the client.
