Blaze Pizza - worth doing?

No one should get Silver Certification because they believe they will automatically jump from $18 shops to $70 shops.

Since I don't particularly like this company anymore and haven't done a shop for them in almost 6 months and because they love their super secret rating secrets so much and probably hate for this to be known, I'll just spell it right out.

If you are a new shopper who has never done shops for this MSC, Blaze is one of the shops that are available to you. Your shopper rating is redone every 3 shops, so you have to do 3 shops before you get a rating increase. With this MSC if you become silver certified it is an automatic upgrade to a particular supersecret rating. If you are above that rating then you see no change. If you are below that rating you will get a rating increase and will notice a difference in available shops.

When I did this the next day I could see hotel shops that I could not see the day before when I entered my certification number. I could see their other pizza chain and their Italian chain. So yeah. $25 silver certification was much quicker and easier than doing 3 Blaza Pizza shops (or whatever shops I could find cause we don't have Blaze here).

I've done several of the Blaze shops. 45 minutes is the shortest amount of time it has taken me to finish the report. I am a fan of the pizza and lemonade, but not the salads(plain) or the s'mores dessert( It's the only dessert they offer). In my opinion, the most difficult aspect of the shop is getting all the names. Sometimes the name tag on their hat is facing away from you or the name is obscure or not written clearly. I intentionally go at a time that won't be super busy, so there won't be as many employees making the pizzas, less names to acquire/remember. I bring someone with me so they get a second pizza on a separate receipt. It ends up costing a couple dollars over reimbursement. I'd rather get two pizzas doing an hour long report than just getting one for the same report time.
It's worth it if you don't mind reimbursement only and an hour long narrative heavy report.
I have done it and one pizza was enough for both of us I did not think it was very difficult however I have that app on my iPhone that times everything to the second
The deciding point for me was that there is a special order required, and it couldn't be just add or subtract a topping. It had to be to substitute a sauce or do one of two, I think. timing things that they state but don't explain. I'm not in the hospitality business, and my son is a chef in fine dining, so I don't even know what I would be asking for. The sauce substitutes didn't appeal to me at all. I never do reimbursement only, and do reimburse plus fee only if I really like the food.
The other thing to remember with this MSC is that they are usually very flexible with dates. Notify the scheduler and they can usually work with you.

I do these when I am in the area for other shops and need a meal. I would rather be reimbursed as I am going to eat anyway than be totally out of pocket.
I did one of the Blaze pizza's when the jobs first opened here in Portland, OR. It was one of the worst pizzas I have ever had. The scheduler has contacted me a number of times asking me to do them again, but I refuse because of the pizza. Ours is located down the street from a MOD Pizza, and Blaze is operating on the same format, but MOD makes a great pizza and I love doing those shops.

Ok you said this is reimbursing $18.00 but no shopper fee. The timings are not difficult to do and take very little time. This is an easy shop. You are being paid for your lunch or dinner. I realize a lot of people eat the entire pizza, but for me it is enough to feed two anyway.
The special request is pretty easy. I always just ask to have the pesto sauce on the crust rather than on the top of the pizza. It takes an extra second or two. I also get fresh arugula at the end. This or getting fresh basil at the end are considered special requests too. You just ask for them when you pick up your finished pizza and they sprinkle a handful on. If you have never had arugula on pizza it is good. Arugula requires some acquired taste but once you are used to it and like it, it is nice to have as a choice.
I've been getting four or five emails a day begging for someone in my area to do these. Since they just sit on the board, I've been leery that it's not worth it. Now, I have no problem doing a reimbursement-only shop, but I've built up a good reputation with other MSCs who do a lot of fine dining, so if I'm going to spend an hour on a narrative-heavy report, I'd rather it be one that reimburses over $100. If I want a $9 pizza, I can just buy it.
Still, I might take one of these sometime just to see what it's about... some of the better shops are already open to me with this MSC, but the magic B-word at the end of the month will usually get my attention. :-D

I eat half the pizza there and take the other half home for later or the next day. As for taste, our palates are all different. I went in expecting the worst based on comments here, but I really like the Blaze pizza. I don't find the report to be that difficult either and don't think it takes as long as some are saying.
I take one of these shops every couple of months because I love the white top pizza. I get a salad with chicken if available and that is a part of a second meal for me the next day.
It's not worth it ! I only goof I am in the area and get a bonus. The nightmare scenario is having to get a picture of the whole bottom of the pizza! Try flipping that sucker over without causing. a kerfuffel at a shared table. Oh -- no carry outs so you can't do it at home. One tome it took 15 minutes to get the pizza. Then I had to wait for a crowed table to share with strangers. The pizzas and salads are good, however.
You don't need a picture of the entire bottom. You really only need a slice of pizza bottom. It's very easy to just lift it up and snap a picture. That said, while very busy, I've always been able to get a table. That may be location and timing ... or just luck. :}
I would say these reports take me a full hour but the fine dining take me 2 hours! So I guess I type slowly.
I have not tried the online order jobs as I like to make my pizza as I go along but for those who have, is the report much shorter? Do you still have to comment on what the line people are doing/saying to other customers you observe?
I've done the shop a few times. The best one is the online order version, since it pays the same and doesn't include as much reporting about pizza assembly. It's not a favorite since I don't really like Blaze, but last time I asked for a higher bonus. And since I'm so familiar with the report, it took half and hour or less for me to go through the report.

I tried the Blaze Pizza once when the outlet opened at a location (20 miles from my home) where I had finished an all-day audit. It was not a mystery shop but a convenient way to get dinner to take home. I thought the pizza was terrible and would never do a mystery shop there. On the other hand, I always try to get a pizza shop at Abby's Legendary Pizza and don't mind using some of my own money because the pizza is sooo good. I have never made money on dinner shops and generally use them as a way to catch a good meal I would otherwise not treat myself to and as a way to add some expense to lessen my taxes.

I do this too! I also agree that Blaze pizza isn't very good. The dough is very thin, more like a wafer, and not in a delicious way.
