How do I know

First time I did this the check was not cashable, the bank ultimately told me the check was a counterfeit, I have another check here that I am afraid to try and cash or deposit. The check does plainly states (cashiers check)and drawn from citizens bank in Flint, Michigan it looks real but yet I still have reservations about it, what can I do to verify check before going to my bank and being embarrassed again

If you received a check in advance for mystery shopping, there is a 99.99% chance that it's counterfeit.

Use the search function here to look up 'scam' and you can read all about it.
Thanks, I actually called the bank in Michigan and they had verified that they could not verify that the check was drawn from there bank and concluded that it was in fact a counterfeit.
But realize that there is a legitimate business of mystery shopping out there. The scams, such as they were trying to suck you into, give it a bad name, but these have nothing to do with shopping. They are just scams like the Nigerian Inheritance, Pigeon Drop and any other confidence game.
There is a list here in the first post of the first thread of Mystery Shop Company Discussion section (it is a Sticky thread stuck to the top of that section). There is information about getting started shopping in the New Mystery Shopper area of the forum. Welcome and check it out to see if it would work for you. You won't get rich, but you may find it fun and rewarding in other ways.
