MaritzCX - problem with signing up

I read about MaritzCX on this forum and went to their website to sign up as a mystery shopper. I could not complete filling out the application form because they want my federal tax ID #. I don't have one, apart from my SSN. I tried entering my SSN in the suggested format ##-#######, but that didn't work. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

A Social Security Number is ordinarily represented xxx-xx-xxxx. You might try that format, or just enter it with no dashes. I think I'd try it without dashes first. If the field in their database is only configured to take nine characters it may be truncating your SSAN when you enter it.
A federal employer's id number starts with two digits and a dash. You're trying to enter a social security number in a slot for a federal id number. Won't work. Look for a slot that's configured like your social. If all else fails, call them at 800-782-4299.

Thanks for the help. I should have clarified that the MaritzCX application form wants BOTH my SSN (in XXX-XX-XXXX format) and my federal ID number (in XX-XXXXXXX format). Without both of them, I can't submit the form. I guess I'm going to have to call them to figure out what's going on.
If you need to get a federal tax id, they are free, it takes less than ten minutes online. The link is [www.irs.gov]
I had no problem signing up for MarCX and had the account going after twenty four hours with only a SSN. Email Barb from KSS because she responds to emails quickly and will help you accomplish it.
I signed up for them without a Tax ID, I believe I left the field blank.

I took cjbstar's advice and signed up for a federal tax ID. It really is quick and painless. I entered the federal ID number in the appropriate place on the form, and I think I'm now signed up. I'm just waiting for instructions on how to complete their certification questionnaire. Thanks for your help, everyone.
