I just did an account-opening shop for $50 for another MSC, different bank. And I'm keeping the account; otherwise, I'd be tempted to take one of these $40 ones, 'cuz the bank is around the corner. But I like the account I just opened, and I don't have enough money to maintain more than the three bank accounts I/we have now. Sadly.
Wrong bank shops. The ones in question start at $40 to open an account. The $9.50 shops are easy peasy information/materials shops.@Rousseau wrote:
I did a couple just because they begged me to as my first shops for them. In my area they pay a pathetic $9.50. To get me to do more will take more than their begging -- it will take their $$$.
I have three accounts with one bank and two accounts with another bank. Many people have multiple accounts with the same bank or various banks. Different accounts/banks meet different needs.@LIJake wrote:
Maybe I'm missing something here but If I open an account at a bank I have to use my real name and info. Therefore, even though $40 is nice, this is a one time deal as there would be little reason to open a second account. And I really don't want an account that I have little use for.

the payment is $40 but...there is a $10 monthly fee and they "recommend" that you keep the account open for at least 30 days? well, i call bs on that recommendation after all it is just a recommend not a requirement after all it's your $$$. and...even if you close your account immediately after opening it the bank will charge you the $10 fee so your fee is not $40 it's $30 which is 25% less than what you may be expecting.
is this another case of kinda/sorta misleading us????
thoughts????????????

I'm interested in these shops, but not for $40. I like to get closer to $100 to open a new account. That might be a pipe dream, but I don't need another bank account (or the $40) that badly, so I can wait and see how it goes.
