Lauraric, several months from now you will look back this beginning adventure and giggle. Guess what? Poor Gina had to put up with my disastrous beginning. Some of my shops couldn't be saved.
I gotta say something about all of this.
Last year Gina and I didn't bump heads, we collided and I can only speak for myself when I say I got knocked stupid. Gina told me something I will NEVER forget. She stated this in her response here as well.
You are a business owner. You own your business and are in complete control over how successful you become. You have a service that you are trying to sell. Your potential clients are MSCs. Your client says they want to try you out but they need to make sure that you understand what they need you to do and would like to see your identification. You have two choices: Accept the job and fullfill the requirements or decline. It is your business and clients (MSCs) want what they are paying for.
It's that simple and Gina made me realize that she was absolutely correct and my continued tantrums was digging myself and my business into a burial site. I have a business along with this one. If I accept a job with my floral business I give it 100% and guarantee my work. Why? A happy client is a repeat client and working by referrals is free advertising. Gina's words opened my eyes and I ask the new parent this: If you hired a nanny, would you not ask for identification and want them to prove to you and your wife they are capable? I personally think that sometimes new and experienced shoppers forget that they are a real business owner. Even teenagers who babysit, mow yards, watch neighbor's homes during vacation. ..they aren't going to tick off the person who hired them. If I were searching for a service, I would look for past client reviews and their thoughts. Communication is key and it sounds like this didn’t happen. Yes, Gina has gotten my goat from time to time just by interpreting her emails one way and it wasn't what she meant. Honestly, she has been a pleasure to offer my services to (I mean this sincerely Gina. ....BTW, it's Kristi). She is one of my favorite clients and I love to email her. She just needs to follow my logic and read my mind better when I send her emails that make absolutely no sense to any other reader other than myself.
Gina, I wanted to publicly announce rather than an email that may or may not make any sense.
Payment I find extremely fair and Sinclair has never fallen behind paying me for my services.
Off my soapbox I come.
