I can not believe Trendsource/The Source

They called 5 minutes before the allotted time of the assignment to cancel it. I was in the conference room 15 minutes before the start time with my phone switched off per the guidelines. I sat intently through 1 1/2 hours of a very tedious lecture. They've already canceled the job from my "Projects Assigned" area. I've contacted them and will update this thread with their response. What is the typical protocol for a situation like this? Will I get some type of compensation?

They cancelled too late as you had already begun the shop. You need to be paid for your time and effort even if they don't wish you to fill out a report. I would contact them professionally but firmly. Be prepared to compromise a bit for not needing to write up the report, but don't volunteer to go for less than the full fee agreed to.
I agree with Flash. Most places will pay at least 1/2 of the original fee, but since this was an extended time visit, who knows? Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones who gets full pay (it happens). Don't volunteer for less, but be willing to accept 1/2 pay if offered.
They usually pay half the fee when a shop is not completed through no fault of yours.

Live consciously....
A few years ago, I was paid full fee on a grocery store that burned down before I got there.

Mary Davis Nowell. Based close to Fort Worth. Shopping Interstate 20 east and west, Interstate 35 north and south.
I was paid half of the fee for a shop that was cancelled. I went to the location and the place was locked. At least it was not out of the way and I did not have to sit through a boring presentation.
I, too, was paid half fee for a location where the Agent never showed up. So I hope you will get something!
They should pay you in full, call them. I turn off my phone for NO ONE. I sometime pit it on vibrate, like at the library
No way 1/2 pay. She did not void the contract . She should be paid and I am sure Trend Source will pay her.
Hum.....hope it was not the elderly insurance shop I noted was back up for grabs listed as informal but was actually formal and paying less than the formal rate.
You should be paid 100% - please let us know if Trend Source doesn't pay you so we can all avoid them!
I had already done a shop and never got an email from another msc even though they said they sent one stating the client had canceled it and still didn't get paid. I am so tired of this crap.
Based on what The Source has written in their Breach of Contract section, you should get full payment. You did not do any of the things that they say constitutes a Breach of Contract which would result in reduction in or non payment. If the project had been cancelled and removed from the website 24 hours prior and you still did the shop, then you would not be eligible for payment because you are "responsible for checking your website for any changes 24 hours prior to shopping to see if there are any changes that affect the evaluations you have agreed to perform" Since it was cancelled only 5 minutes prior, you have not breached contract and should be paid full payment.
In my experience, few MSC's email a cancelation anf then call to also cancel.

If they balk, ask for proof they emailed you. Ask for the full header information in the email. It will have all the time/datestamps, as well as the IP addresses, server, and email addresses. That will have all the proof you might need.
I worked for trendsource for going on 2 years now and in my experience if they threatened not to pay you need basically to call back the field coordinator ask for supervisor and explain everything that was said in the other comments posted on this page and tell them you worked very hard on this project and they should pay you.
