Unable to complete Maritz shop

I was unable to complete one of my first shops with Maritz. It was Friday and there was an accident on the highway and with all the holiday traffic I could not get there in time. It was after hours so I emailed them. Just wondering how bad this will hurt me as I am new to this.

Also looking for suggestions on the types of shops for a newbie (i.e. fast food, banking, grocery, etc.) what do you suggest for a newbie to this? Thanks!

I did shop 8+ years ago but things have changed!

For a newbie I like banks and groceries. Those will help you hone skills other than just spli second timing. You will need those other skills to branch out and move up.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
When does your date go past due? On some shops, the system automatically unassigns you. If the shop is still assigned to you on 12-26 or 27, call them. Check to see if they are closed on Monday, 12-26.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

Maritz -- well, I love 'em, so I won't use the word "notorious" -- but they are, shall we say, well known for NOT responding to e-mails. The above advice is correct -- call them. If they aren't open 12/26, call 'em again on 12/27. And again, if you need to, till you talk with the right person. Good luck. I will say I've made enough mistakes on shops for them, they are VERY forgiving and easy to work with.
My advice is the same as the others, except this:

If the shop is nearby (and that would be your idea of "nearby"winking smiley, do the shop this week - preferably today. Submit your report with a comment in the comment section that "due to the traffic conditions, the shop could not be completed in the required time period".

But, first, before going out to perform the shop, go to the shop's online report section (btw, it should have an "overdue" notice) and click on the link to submit the report. Enter the access code and then see if it allows you to enter information. If it does, click on the "save" link and perform the shop.

I like Maritz because they are understanding and only wish to get their reports done/not punish.

Last of all, I would followup with a telephone call - no Emails. Also, I wouldn't perform the shop if for some reason, you would incur any great expense that would be reimbursed.
Thanks all. I called today and they removed it just took a while due to the holiday. I would have done it but I am out of town until Wednesday so they said not to worry.

Thanks again!
When things come up that prevented me from doing their shops by the due date, go the email section (the icon that has the little envelope on your shop assignment) and request an extension, the date when you plan to complete the shop, and state the reason why you need an extension. They are very accommodating and will either phone/email you to let you know the result but also check your shop log to see if they granted you an extension. Also when you venture out to do other shops, like a fast food or casual restaurant with one MSC to see if you like doing it. Each MSC has different requirements/reporting style that some shoppers preferred over one another. Like that saying goes, you don't know if you like it until you tried it.
Wow, I'm glad that you found them forgiving, I sure don't you never get the same person that looks at your reports and so far they are all different. The no's and na's get me all the time. some say to use them instead of using no, and them when you get another shop you use what you were told the last time, then you find out that it is wrong you should of used the NA So confused don't no what to use anymore without loosing points,
