SQM

Have you shopped for them? What timeframe do they pay in for full reibursement jobs?

I really like SQM. Their scheduler, Betty in my area, is amazing. Easy communication, whether by email or phone, shops with clear instructions, simple reports and they always pay on time. Also, they have a great variety of shops available ranging from fast food, dine-in restaurants, flights, hotels, rail service, phone and email shops, and many more.

The only issue I have with them is the need to "make" an invoice at the end of the month. One must "send" (it's all done internally on their site but the onus is on the shopper to click at the right place to have their invoice validated) the invoice before the 5th of the month if one wants to be paid that month. If one forgets, as I often do, one will only get paid the following month.

They get a nice big thumbs up from me smiling smiley
I hear they are an excellent Co., with great hotels, have you taken their level steps yet???

Nope. I got a hotel without it. Fully reimbursed.

Great...too many shoppers here, I'm still on level 4, just haven't had time.

SQM does not have a lot in the USA - they do have quite a bit in Canada. They are a Canadian company.

They have an irreverant style and I enjoy that about them - read through their Ask Sally Q&A if you are ever bored - I have actually laughed out loud.

I am a level 9, but I did my first hotel for them as a level 0.

I do not do a lot of work for them - even less so now, but I have always gotten paid according to their payment terms. I agree with the previous poster regarding the annoyance of the invoice thing - but it is what it is.
I've been trying to get in with them for years. I go to Canada frequently too. They enrolled me in their other site, EvaluateIt by SQM. It basically gives you 50% off hotels, some flights and railroads. I do a lot of hotel shops for full reimbursement plus pay... so I haven't ever used it. I've heard that the forms for the EvaluateIT site are really easy. I may use it some day if I'm on vacation.

Are they still accepting new shoppers to the regular SQM site? I thought they were just trying to promote the new site.
The 50% off hotel program does not require a STEP level rating. Anyone can apply and the forms are relatively simple. They have a wide variety of hotels ranging from 2* to 5* and some have meal and parking reimbursements. I hope Dee jumped on the HI property they were offering on the Big Island. The report is a lot less intense than those of the NY based hospitality MSC. That being said, I find that sometimes it is more cost effective to just use Priceline. You garner similar savings and there is no report to write. Of course, with the SQM 50% off program you will accumulate loyalty points which can be very beneficial, especially in the second quarter when hotel promotions are at their most advantageous. I would not consider performing the flight evaluations they offer as they do not allow the earning of points on the two airlines they offer.
I'd almost forgotten about those Step tests lol. I did them all and am a Step 9 shopper. The tests are really tricky as you need to get 100% to pass and you're not told which questions you got wrong. I did get a bit of help from another shopper when frustration got the best of me.

The hotel deals are good. The flight deals, if you plan on going on a trip alone, are fantastic.

As far as I know, they're always accepting new shoppers. Here's the link for the sign-up page: [www.sqm.ca]
Dee, I just got an email from Craig, Pres. of SQM. He told me the only hotel not needing level 8 or 9 testing (steps) is the Hawaii one. I am in the process of taking test, on level 4, takes alot of time....however, I do the discount jobs when going to Chicago to see my daughter, half off and very little work, compared to their lengthy detailed hotel "jobs.

I haven't taken any of the steps, Irene.

I'm on step 9...did it just to do it as kind of a group project...Haven't worked for the company at all.

They have many shops here in CA.....and nice ones, hotel's mostly. The questions for their level steps are tricky, and have more than one right answer, I'm still working on step 4...oh dear!!
