Trendsource Onsite Inspections

I get a lot of emails for these. Can someone explain what these shops entail, how to get qualified, and if they are worth it.

They are great shops. Just go to the website, click on "Resources", and they'll walk you right through the entire process.
You have to do a $6 background check and take a few quizzes to get certified.

The inspections require a lot of pictures, and a yes/no survey. The pay depends on the survey. The have some with just a few pictures ($7) to ones that require a simple drawing ($40+).

I've been doing them for a few years. I like them.

FYI they are the absolute LOWEST paying in the industry for these... shop around manny pay at least double or more.
I've been wondering about these myself. There's one paying 70 in my area, but I'm worried about how much they are going to expect for that amount. Nervous.
I saw one for 70 and that required a sketch. I can't draw. But I was laughing at the absurdly low payments on a lot of them. Take 13 pictures for a $9 shopper payment! Uh, NO.
For the ones with drawings, I use a drafting software. You can easily draw a few boxes by hand and have it accepted.

My experience with the on-site inspections have not been great. Granted, I've only done two, but both were in undesirable neighborhoods and the contact person at each one was so nervous, that they made ME nervous. It was just stressful all the way around. I have noticed that most shopper's experiences have been positive though. If i were you, i would sign up for one, just to see if it is something you would enjoy doing. If the addresses are local, you may even want to drive by and see what the area is like first.

For the work it entails, the pay is very low. The wage standard for the audits I've seen pay much more. There are definitely many more great options available for that type of work. But if it's right at your back door, why not?

You qualify by taking a test and paying for fingerprinting and a background check every year. The reports are pretty simple, usually. I liked them but I hated making the phone calls. I loved meeting all kinds of new people, it was pretty awesome most of the time. I signed up for a few that were in less than friendly areas of town that made me a little uncomfortable, and I've been asked by some of the applicants to just put in the reports what will get them approved. But most of the applicants just need to get through the process, they are friendly and easy going most of the time and they have everything prepared when you get there.

I would love to be able to do them again.
