A Closer Look - Manager name required

may I have the manager's name to send feedback on the excellent (insert whatever was excellent) please?
It's really easy to ask the server for the manager's name. You might want to contact the manager to send great feedback, like bookwomman said. Or maybe your brother is looking for a job and you want the manager's name. Or you are planning a party in a couple of months and want to contact the manager. Easiest of all is to stop at the Hostess station on the way out and ask the hostess for the manager;s name.
I have done a few shops where the instructions include getting the manager name but when I finally get to enter the report there is no question like that. Unfortunately the instructions still require the name so I keep getting it in case they change the report back. The sample reports I find to often be somewhat different than the real report. In any case these are often in restaurants where the manager stops by everyone's table so you can intro yourself with a handshake at that time and they will usually say their name too.
I always use the 'my company is looking to book a larger client dinner, can I get the managers card please' .
Is there only a requirement for a name, or is there also a requirement for an interaction with the manager, physical description, or just an observation to make sure s/he is on duty?
ACL had a shop where they tried sneaking in the manager's name as a requirement, though it was not mentioned in the guidelines. For whatever reason, they recently lost that account.
I would not worry about being conspicuous by asking for the name of, or to speak with, the manager.

Ask to speak to the manager. When the manager arrives tell them you wanted to let them know how great your: server, meal, experience was. Or as suggested, want to know whom to contact for a small office get together. If they do not introduce themselves, you have to ask for their name.

I just ask the server the managers name right before I leave.
Getting the manager's name is better than the MSC that requires the hostess' name when she isn't wearing a name tag! I always feel so weird asking them their name and then thanking them. "What was your name? Thank you Angela for the menu and great conversation on the way to the table 
!" But I do as the guidelines tell me. Last night a manager did stop by but I didn't feel natural asking his name. I asked the busser his name and if he knew if he used to work at their other location. The busser didn't know his name let alone the manager's backstory!

haha once I went in my day job work shirt that had my name embroidered on it. a guy said "hey that's my name too!" then walked me to the table and notified me he was the manager! doesn't get much easier than that haha but in all seriousness you can always call right after leaving and ask for the manager on the phone - they'll answer with a "this is ....." and in case they don't you can end the call with a "and what was your name again?"
Looking for info on booking an event always works nicely. And if they do stop by I always say "Everything is great, this is my first time here, I'm [my name]" and reach out for a handshake. They reply with their name and I'm good to go.
I don't do a lot of restaurants and have never done one that required the manager's name, although I have seen those. I always thought they wanted the manager on duty. I would be concerned that some of these suggestions would yield the wrong name.

Or ask for managers name to give feedback. Server gives general manager C name. General manager c left 2 hours prior to shop.

I just ask to speak w the manager and give a compliment or mention wanting to do a birthday etc there and wanted to get the info to follow up.
