Right, that's how change happens, revolution in some form. And I dare someone to tell the difference between complaining and stating the facts. The ex used to say I was always complaining because he didn't wash the dishes. Uh, no, I was stating a fact.
We have many reimbursements with a low fee for report, what's the difference. I haven't paid for an oil change in years, add it up, same with groceries, making a thousand yearly on food is nothing to laugh at being retired and loving to eat well as well as cooking, buying allergy pills, and all it entails to run a home. Looking at it
as a 5.00 job is not smart shopping. Some shop for "perks", this is that and I love it. Those that don't enjoy cooking or eating well probably wouldn't have use for it, but others, well, it's the one reason I don't fully retire...Wild Salmon is healthy and expensive, I'll take your jobs, not that proud.....we have 5 of the same stores, within 4 miles of me and two others they do, it's my down time, and for someone who said they're expensive, sales go from Wednesday thru Sunday (when I shop), chickens are half off and sales abound.....too each his own.

Like Irene says, a lot of fees are not high enough to make a shopper jump in the car and go do the shop, but there's no reason not to make those shops work for you ...... IF you see a value in them. While I don't jump in the car and make a special trip for these, I take them along with other shops or if I find I will be in or near the store anyway. It all depends on how close I will be and how quick and easy the report is. I get a kick out of getting things I need and would buy anyway - groceries, vitamins, lunch, etc. - by mystery shopping and not spending my after-tax dollars.
We have so many threads complaining about low fees and/or reimbursement-only shops and dissing those who take them that I would think forum members would get tired of it. Can't we just accept that one man's trash is another man's treasure?
And a lot of these shops have been around a long very time. Obviously, shoppers are taking them and find them profitable. Different shoppers like different shops.

I find the OP's title of The Source and their grocery shops "insulting". Just don't do them, no one cares.

I've done a couple of these shops, won't do them again. I've had grocery shops where they want you to time each department you were in. They wanted the time you entered the department and the time you left.

I find the title just fine. The OP is correct to complain here. There are schedulers who read these posts.
She called me today wanting me to do a shop 50 min out of town for $5 extra. I asked her if she would do it. I am not answering her calls anymore cause I want to crawl through the line and look at their books. And her uptown Cali accent really bothers me!

Many times the scheduler does not know how far away you are from the shop. Just let them know the shop is too far. They will make note of it.
I used to do these when I was buying groceries for my son, wife and 2 kids. He was out of work and every little bit helped. I was thankful at the time that this shop was there.
Don't forget these are not the only shops this company has. I do about 3/4 restaurants I enjoy where one can eat and report is easy. I do their Business Verifications, we have a nice Industrial Center in town (1 mile from me), with new business's opening constantly, and I do them, their groceries are just one type of shop that I enjoy, I get many other jobs from them. Whatever works for a shopper is what they should do, which is why we're called Independent Contractors, it's always our choice. I did a restaurant I'd be wanting to try for another company
reimbursement only, took 2 hours to get home for what should have been a 35 minute drive (16 miles) but, freeway construction caused closed lane, total nightmare. Thank you "The Source" for having so many jobs in my town.....

The reimbursement should only be considered pay if you can buy whatever you want.
If they're asking you to buy something at tge deli, that's an expense the same as parking.

Reimbursement is NEVER considered pay....it is simply reimbursement, whether or not the MSC requires you to buy any particular item or not. The reimbursement, for tax purposes, is NEVER reportable if you are indeed reimbursed. The FEE/PAY or whatever you want to call it....now THAT is taxable, because it is.....pay!@redsix wrote:

Some, not many but some, of the MSCs I work for include the reimbursement in the total on the tax forms. Then, begrudgingly, I have to look up the total they paid and separate out the reimbursement part and write if off as required purchases.
If you aren't a fan of these shops, you're not a fan. I do them and have gotten them down pretty pat. My required purchases are things on my grocery list. You can't use coupons, but you CAN use the store loyalty card programs AND such apps as Ibotta and Checkout51. No, they aren't for everyone, but I'll be you do some shops that you really enjoy that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot poll. You made your point. Unfortunately you did so in a way that makes you sound like a pompous ass who believes that any of us who would think otherwise isn't worth the dirt on your shoe. If that was your plan, congratulations.
I am doing a couple more this weekend (like always), so go away to those that argue. I shop at this store anyway, why not get reimbursed...just don't get peoples attitude, another weekend of great food for a report that I do in 20 minutes. Truffle Oil, Wild Salmon, Cheesecake, free turkey, Boar's Head deli (yum),here I come...

I use coupons! I am in a coupon trading program. I get the excess from my merchandising job and trade $1 Dove coupons for Ben and Jerry's. I can get $75 worth of groceries for the $9 they reimburse very often!
Coupons are how I pay for my trip to the coast once a year!

I also use their coupons, don't get as much off as Spicy and always go over the 9 or 12$ reimbursement, always spending around 20.00 with 3 a week, works for me. Getting the 17.00 reimbursement makes it work...Spicy, good for you.

My majong group basically is a couponing/investing group now and they will eat that papa john pizza in exchange for coupons
I really don't know how people do these in less than 45 minutes. After doing a sweep looking for associates and then finding and asking deli, jewelry, home, apparel, produce, meat and up to 3 grocery associates questions, I can't seem to do these in less than 60 minutes. Any tips?
Hmmm, the ones in my area are only deli, meat/seafood, produce and grocery. Do your counts with yes/no interacted within 7 feet in half the store and speak those into phones video recorder; Deli, 2, 1 verbal, 1 non-verbal, 0 in floral, 1 meat/seafood, assisting, etc. Walk the other half of the store (briskly on your first round) and speak those into recorder. Where ever you end in the store, turn around and get your interactions the other way around the store. Just ask, don't lead. Ask the same question at all of this weeks stores. Speak each interaction into recorder: Grocery, Male, stocking, Anthony, short brown, no beard or stache, glasses and hat yes, walked me there. Etc. Don't dally, move to the next. Have the items you will buy in your mind, get them and go.
In my area, there are no restrictions against using coupons in the grocery stores that the Source has for a Client. But if the coupons bring the total price down to below the $9.00 requirement (in my area), then you just have to be sure and add something to bring the total back up to or over $9.00. But I've used coupons when I have one for something I need and it's on sale in the store. Never had a problem. Must be a different requirement for a different Client....I know they have several grocery Clients, and each has their own guidelines.@Joscelin wrote:

Ive been using quick books so i have the numbers I just have to move them around, irritating
