Grocery store changed hands/name....what would you have done?

I was assigned to shop an Albertson's grocery store yesterday. When I arrived at the location I noted there were banners flying in the air. I then noticed that the sign had been changed to SAFEWAY. Anyway, I attempted to submit the report advising that the location was no longer an Albertson's. I could not submit the report without responding to all the questions that had no pertinence since the store was gone. I took pictures of the store, the signs, the street address printed on the store. All that was needed for POV.

The MSC (no brainer) is now telling me that Kroger owns the property and that I can perform/submit the shop on Safeway. WTF. I fulfilled my obligation, no? Would you have completed the shop if the location had changed hands and name? I can find no indication that Kroger has anything to do with Albertsons/Safeway merger. Every thing states the two are competitors.

I wouldn't be complaining about the push for a re-do as this market is within walking distance to my house, but I simply can't squeeze this into my schedule for the next couple days. Hence, my wanting to fight the MSC on pushing me to re-do.

I would have done just as.you did and aborted and reported as a closed location with a POV. Typically, depending on the MSC, closed locations pay little or nothing, so I'd be glad to go back and do the shop after the closed shop fee, if any, was resolved. Too bad, we dont have these groceries in my location.
Albertson's was bought out awhile ago, but the name wasn't changed...ours still say Albertson's. My thoughts are it should have been done. I know they are shopped, you should have been told about the name change.

Albertson's/Safeway had a merger two years ago (2015). If you were assigned to shop at an Albertson's and it is now called Safeway, you should still be responsible to complete the shop (both names belong to the same client). I'm confused about how Kroger fits into this.
Albertsons has nothing to do with Krogers, different store (Ralphs).and different MSC./Safeway, Vons and Albertsons are all owned by the same company and are one, but have all kept their own names.

wouldve contacted scheduler from car in parking lot before going any further. if scheduler doesnt respond right away contact msc office itself & explain urgency. works for me like 90% of time or more.

So, Safeway/Albertson's is shopped?
Maybe it's a comp shop and Kroger is the client. That's the only reason I can think of as to why the scheduler mentioned Kroger.
No, they don't sell kroger food, it's a regular shop from what I know. Ralphs is owned by Kroger and sell the Kroger brand specifically.

This entire shop was weird. When I requested compensation for a closed location they said that they could pay me for the groceries, but not the fee. Luckily the shop was removed from my log.

The whole Albertson's thing is weird. In our market, it's not uncommon for an Albertson's to be changed to a completely different name three or four times and then shut down.
In my market, Albertson's is terrible all the way around. As a customer and as a vendor. The Grocery and GM Managers act like they are spiteful Grocery store Gods. And they are NOT! They are just spiteful; They are rude, obnoxious, averting people so that's how they behave in their employment capacity. The Cashier's stand in front of their registers competing to ring-out customers and then don't say anything and just stare at the groceries going by the scanner and at their register. Before they are done with your transaction they are already hunting their next customer without saying thank you, providing a pleasant closing and avert eye contact at all costs, all the while continuing the conversation they were having with the bagger! They blame the fact that their corporate management changes and they can't follow the new rules. The stores are primarily empty of customers in all but two. I shopped at Safeway for most of my life, there is no Safeway here. Mine was fantastic!
I'm not an Albertson's fan, think they are pricey and non responsive to customers most of the time. We have no Safeway, but they are huge in No. CA (San Francisco), the largest. We have a few Von's here, and they have great sales on Friday. I like them, but don't shop them, busy with my Krogers and Whole Foods, although I think other shoppers have been beating me to Whole Foods....at least their still shopped with the Amazon takeover.

Same here. I got to do one once, but it was strictly for vitamins. Not the store itself.

I attempted to do the vitamin one, ugh, it was a nightmare for me! After an hour I realized this was going to take WAY too much time and gave her the info and pics I had so far and told her where to put them.
Same company as Kroger, but not all of them in all states....so, maybe not in your area. I didn't say the MSC.....
