Goodwin Hospitality (via ISS)?

Hello,

Reviews for them on Yelp and Google are HORRIBLE. They say that they find tiny little things to reject shops for and don't pay. However, they have quite a few bowling shops in my area that I thought would make a fun date night for my boyfriend and I this weekend. With all the alcohol and food they want you to order, I know I might not clear much but I wouldn't mind... If I get paid for it.

I searched on here for them and found a couple mentions that were positive and no negative ones but was hoping some more people had some experience (with the bowling shop or just with the company, in general) that I could go off of.

I have done a handful of their shops and never have had an issue...

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
I'm glad to hear that! I'll probably go ahead and do it then.

Weird, though, that I used the search function for Goodwin and it only came up with 5 posts but, now, on the right hand side of my post there's a "More Discussions About Goodwin & Associates" link that pulls up a lot more. Some of our fellow forum members have reported issues on there.
I like Goodwin. They were slow-pays years ago, but I haven't heard any problems the last few years, and I have personally had only good experiences with them.
I love Goodwin. I can only do the shops when traveling because there are none in my area. I wish I could do more shops for them.
I've done a handful of sandwich shops for them. I can't remember having any issue with any of them, but I've never had anything unusual happen, either. The pay is "eh," it's one flat fee, and IIRC you wait 60 days to get it. And there's a 60 day wait between sandwich shops. If all that is ok with you, I wouldn't worry.
I work for them through ISS Scheduling and have no problem. I think they now have their act together.

I also do some shops for them and have had no problems. In the past they were very slow payers, but as Irene says, they now have their act together. Payment is usually less than 45 days.
I got my first bowling shop through ISS. It was really straightforward. Call, comment, see if they recommend any specials. Eat, comment. Bar, comment if they upsell to premium liquor, Bowl, tell about the front desk service, if they have fliers for specials etc. Check out the game room if they have one, comment. Restrooms, comment.

We do them since the reimbursement matches what we spend but if you don't go overboard on food and drinks, you can make about $15.

I have used a BOGO coupon but check with your scheduler first about that. Check the location's website.

We do them basically for a reimbursed night out. Lots of fun. Just make sure you don't book a league night. You might call ahead or check online to determine what the best special night is and schedule your shop on that night, that's when they are slow. Also, consider doing the shop during the daytime as I don't believe there is a time frame other than when they are open. .

I love them, have done many different type of shops for them. I had an issue with the bowling shop, was not very happy that they didn't accept it because the pix were not in the correct format and did not get a chance to change it but otherwise they have been great to work with!
I wish Goodwin had more shops in my area. In the past I shopped a number of shops that I really liked. Always had a good response from them. Yelp and Google don't mean anything to me. I go by my own experience with every MSC I shop for.
I've had excellent experiences with them; have done many shops, with never an issue with acceptance of a report.
So far, so good, though I've only done 2 shops for them through ISS with a 3rd coming up tomorrow. Goodwin's got a really nice scheduler that I've enjoyed working with. If you go for the shop I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
I've too found Goodwin a good MSC. They have never complained about anything I have submitted and always paid on schedule.
I've done shops for them for years. Flat fee that really only covers the meal. The reports seem much longer now on the iSS platform. I did a sandwich shop last night, and the report took twice as long than the actual shop. Report was nowhere near as long on the Prophet system. Perhaps it was just this particular client. I never had a problem with reports or pay. Schedulers are nice and helpful.
Goodwin was my very first shop (via iSS) about a year ago! In my experience at least, they were nothing but good to me. Responsive, helpful, and consistently posting interesting/high-earning (or high-reimbursing) shops. I wonder if it's the "rate-my-professor" syndrome you're seeing--that is, where the people who feel slighted or burned drag down a company or individual's rating because they take the time to actually post a rating.
I have completed a handful of the bowling shops for Goodwin! Fun Fun Fun however, beware because if you are out to have fun, it can get pricey and you will definitely go over your fee since there is no reimbursement. You definitely have to pay very close attention while bowling since the guidelines are pretty detailed. It's fun but those reports are detailed and it is a lot to remember. Over 4-5 descriptions, names, greetings and interactions. Sip slowly..lol
Done about 12 bowling shops for them. Never ever got a rejection. Also, they pay on time.
Their editors dont seem to communicate well together. I had been doing numerous shops at this asian bowl and sandwhich chain when all of a sudden a new editor decided to deny my report because I didnt have an 'itemized receipt'. It was a counter service restaurant so unnatural and akward to ask for. So I guess be careful they can be nitpicky.
I've done dozens of shops for them without any problem at all. I did my first bowling one last month but it wasn't too tough. I think their main bowling client has a lot of different service scenarios: some have bars that are different from their snack shops, some do or don't have lane service, etc so it was a bit hard to figure out what sections I was supposed to fill in some of the evaluations, but I just explained what was what and it was approved. They almost never email announcements about newly added shops so you have to keep checking ISS to see if anything pops up.
Personally I haven't had any bad experiences with Goodwin. I used to work with them a lot more, as it seems their shops have dwindled in the areas I shop, which is a shame. I have never had a report rejected from them and have found their schedulers to be friendly and reasonable. They are not the fastest paying company, but they do pay within their stated time frame. Just my experience smiling smiley

Happily shopping the Pacific Northwest. Shopping since 2013 smiling smiley
I just completed two bowling shops without any problems or issues. Try it in your "spare" time.
I have done a lot of shops for them - even before ISS. They are OK. The only thing I am not crazy about it payment. Not so much timeliness of it but the amount. Their visits are usually a Flat Fee. The total payment for the visit is, say, $50. That includes the cost of whatever you have to purchase and sometimes the purchase amount is close to the total reimbursement amount. I did one visit that paid $37 and the cost of dinner was $35ish meaning I "made" about a buck or so. Before you accept a Goodwin shop go to the website of the place you are visiting and price out all you have to purchase so you see how much you will end up getting paid. If anything.
Their restaurants are great if you can do them alone, however i never expect making $$ on a restaurant, I do what I enjoy for the meal.....ISS has't gotten much this month, i'm waiting.

I started with Goodwin and continue today. Never had a problem. Your not going to get rich, but your not required to write an essay. If you have a problem, they are there for you.
Irene...you'll appreciate this one...Goodwin has a quick casual restaurant shop on the ISS board in San Diego. Requires a sandwich, beer, and side. that probably costs about $18.00, including a small tip. They are offering $16, all in. The shop still sits on the board....even the bottom feedrs don't want to spend more than they are gong to get reimbursed!

I know what this one is - and I agree although here they can be done and still get back a few pennies. I see on my board there are plenty of those visits left in my area - no real shock. They used to have a cake place that is very good and if you shop it you could make a few bucks but I haven't seen that shop in some time.
I'm out as I'm 3 hours from San Diego, however I just did my favorite for a 40.00 fee, ate my head off with $$ to spare. Weekday salads are on special for 7.00, and filling and the best...have been eating here long before shopping. I'm very happy with Goodwin (ISS), and I got a thank you note from Goodwin for doing a good job....

I have been dealing with Goodwin for some time. Most of the schedulers are accommodating (Most) Never had a problem with the payment. One or two shops were declined due to my shortfalls. They are one of the best.
