She schedules for at least three other MSC that I can think of off the top of my head. My interactions with her have been less than positive to put it mildly.

I avoid shops where she is the scheduler. I can say that when I emailed a higher up in RBG my issue with said scheduler was quickly solved and I was issued an apology.

There is a punch line by one of the shoppers " If they come for me in the morning, they will come for you in the night."
John, do you know the origins of that saying from Angela Davis? It is a much darker reference than you may want to use in a case of feeling disrespected by a scheduler, I assure you.

Edited to correct "that" to "than."

Wow, we are so much into making mountains and political correctness. Geez. Background as in- an immigrant and coming from a different land. Education, man no substitute for education.
Huh?

Who is trying to be politically correct?

And what would be wrong if you were? It is basically refraining from being an offensive a-hole. Obviously, nobody has to do so, but it does make for a more pleasant experience for everyone.

We love to digress and go off topic. Get used to it.
Oh well when they came for you no one will be around to care.
Oh yeah! They dropped the pay for the bank shops!
Yes, the bank shops were reduced buy a quarter to a third and shoppers are still doing them. SMH.

The saying comes from a letter in November, 1970, from James Baldwin to Angela Davis. It has gained more attention in today's political atmosphere. In essence:

"Upon closing his letter, Baldwin assures Davis that “her fight is our own” because “if they take you in the morning, they will be coming for us that night”. The “they”, we can imply from his words , are those in power, either elected office or self-appointed, who seek to rid the U.S. of those deemed as threats or unwanted and the “our” are those who are most vulnerable to the actions of those in power. For Baldwin, Davis’s fate is not isolated to her as an individual but is a larger threat to the masses, to those, like Davis, like Baldwin, like me, like immigrants, like Muslims, like LGBTQ individuals, with fragile rights and liberties, whose lives are further jeopardized by the actions of those in power."

Cure, to expand upon your source, James Baldwin's statement was further, and respectfully, derived from a World War Two era lament by a German pastor who discovered that because he had not paid much attention when "First they came for the Jews," (etc, etc.) there was no one to stand up when they "finally" came for him in the evening. As I recall that lament was written from a Concentration Camp. Baldwin almost certainly knew that Angela Davis would recognize the reference to the Holocaust. I am very surprised that the professor did not make the Holocaust connection.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

The poem was written by Martin Niemöller to criticize the cowardice of Germans after the Nazis' rose to power and began to purge targets, one group after another. A lot of variations of the poem have been published in English language dealing with persecution, guilt and responsibility. Pastor Niemöller was German Lutheran pastor and an anti-Communist who initially supported Hitler; he was arrested in 1937 and jailed in Dachau after speaking out against the Nazis.
Thank you! I regret that I was not able to find that exact reference and am very grateful that you did. I feel certain that James Baldwin had that very much in mind when he wrote to Angela Davis. Obviously, my memory of the original was not so very good.

@rolfwofl ..thank you for writing that, hits close to home.

Live consciously....
I like RBG. They send emails, which can be annoying, but last week, I snagged three shops with reimbursements and last minute bonuses, that I was going to go to, to give as holiday gifts. (The shops ended up being all taken within 30 minute of that email). The reports seem to be straightforward, and I'll be getting paid by paypal in a few weeks, for things that I was going to be gifting anyway. Never had a problem with anybody there. Actually have gotten than you emails for reports. I like them.

Yes, this is the correct source. I have quoted it many times over the years to my children. I have heard it quoted frequently in Church as well (Catholic). Although we are Catholic now, my mother's family was Polish-Jewish in the early 1900's. Only one died in Auschwitz. So yeah, it's not a "shopper's punchline."
I don't have a problem with RBG but I found dealing with Tracy Z to be so unpleasant and unproductive that her emails are now filtered and go straight into my trash folder, unread.
The only time you have to "deal" with them is when you've done something wrong, correct? I mean, they're schedulers so the shop is offered on January 8th, you click to request it, you're assigned or not assigned and that's the end of it, right?
Do you get the feeling that the new poster is really the old poster under a different name? I do.

If you think that, perhaps you should ask Jason and the mods to check the source code, since having 2 active forum names is a big "no no," or so I believe.

If you are referring to me, yes, I used to post under GOTSHOPS. I forgot my password and no longer have access to the email I used to register for that username, and so I created a new username.

Incorrect. I had to deal with her because something happened on the client's end that made a shop already assigned to me impossible to do. I did nothing wrong.

I emailed her to let her know what happened and I asked her for information. She never provided the necessary information but, days later, she wanted me to try again. I offered a suggestion and asked permission to try approaching the shop another way (while still following the shop guidelines). She again did not respond.

When I declined to try the shop again unless I had the information I requested, she apparently took offense and punished me by deleting all my shop applications from then on--even for other locations and businesses. She kept deleting my applications even though the shops sat on the job board and I had a very long and good record with RBG.
Sue, other forum members were not referring to you, I am pretty sure.
Well, they aren't interested in complications and I'm sure they don't want us to suggest guidelines. Terrible predicament though.
