Market Force and SSN card

Hi fellow shoppers. Good morning and hope you're having a good day so far. I wanted to ask the group a question about Market Force. Would you highly recommend them as a company to shop for? I'm asking because they are requiring that I show an actual Social Security number card to sign up to shop with them versus just giving them my Social Security number. I have no idea where my card is and would need to order one. Is it worth it? I live in Northern California and have been shopping for close to year and a half now. This is the first company that wants me to give them the actual card versus the number and I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to order one. Thoughts? Thank you in advance for your input. I'm enjoying this forum and feel like I'm getting to know some of you even though we have never met.

You'll get a mixed reaction on that question. I have been shopping a little longer than you have and have done exactly two MarketForce shops. My impression is that their reports tend to be quick and easy and they pay accordingly. They have a huge number of shops ranging from banks, to fast food, to casual dining, to gas stations, to retail stores and more. Periodically, they will offer very handsome bonuses when they really need to get a shop done.

I have not had any feedback on my shops for them, but, from what I read here, it sounds like they can be picky with guidelines and answers and it can be difficult to correct a minor error - so as to be able to get paid.

I like Market Force. I do maybe a shop per month for them. I have no complaints about them.

I think some companies like Bare use an e-service to verify electronically the SSN with the person's name. I've not heard that a physical card is required, perhaps they are seeing some issues with people using other people's names and SSN #s.
I like Market Force and I would recommend them. But, regardless of Market Force or any other mystery shopping company, if you do not have your Social Security card, I would go to SSA right now and get a card now before you really need it. I work for a state agency and I was required to show my actual SS card on my first day of employment. When I changed to a different agency, I was required to show my SS card. Many places require seeing the actual card. In addition, if you do not have a copy of your birth certificate, you may want to get that replaced before you need it.

A friend of mine lost her husband suddenly. She has small children. Before she was able to open a SS claim for her children, she was required to show their SS cards and their certified birth certificates. She was delayed because she had to order birth certificates. It pays to have all your documents and keep them in a safe place.
Thank you, roflwofl. I had the exact same experience as your friend. I lost my husband almost a year ago and have two small children. When I applied for Social Security for our family I showed the kids' birth certificates/SSNs but did not have to show my SSN to them. I guess a drivers license sufficed for me. That's why I am so surprised by this request from Market Force. Good input though and thank you for taking time to write.
I do between $475 and $1600 each month with them, pay and reimbursement. You can walk in to a SS office and get a proof of SS card and they mail the actual. Im sure MF may take the proof while waiting on the actual. Its the theatre one that wants the actual, are you signed up with both MF sites?
I'm interested in mystery shopping & was curious how you make from $475 to $1600 a month. I'm retired & that $$ would REALLY help. What companies do you work for besides MF? I would appreciate your thoughts on anything you think would me helpful. Thxs!

Check the “Maximizing Cashflow” thread...

Thats just with MF. Take all the assignments and route with other company's shops. My travel range is any drive across the US except NW in the winter and I couple it with long distance Uber riders. My last long distance Uber was an elderly couple who do not fly because of heart conditions and I drove them to Galveston for their winter stay.
I have not seen the Maximizing cashflow thread, I'm going to check it out when I get home. Thanks MFJ!
I enjoy working with Market Force. They pay fairly (for my area) and bonus frequently. Reports are straightforward and the pay comes on time. I do between 5-10 shops a month for them.
Are you positive it's the real Marketforce and not someone saying that they are from Marketforce? Was this from the actual Marketforce website? I am with MF and have never been asked to show my card. I find that very peculiar, as I am signed up with 100+ companies and have never been asked to provide my card with any company. Nor would I feel comfortable scanning and emailing the image of my SS card.

Seriously, for shopper dot marketforce dot com, for mystery shopping, you don't need a ss card.

But for Movie Studio and Theatre Service, you have to have provide your driver's licence and ss card for theatre dot marketforce dot com because you have access to backrooms and movie studios. We have a couple of movie studios where I live.
Yeah, I don't do the merchandising theatre jobs you speak of, spicy (they don't pay well), even though I am signed up with both MF divisions. But I was not asked for my SSN card with the theatre division, either.
Are there movie studios where you live? Thats what its mainly for I think. They dont want us to mess with Nicole or Magic
No, no movie studios here. Likely some in Northern CA where Erohara lives, though. But, do they want to do merchandising or do shops? OP, you might want to give MF a call and clarify, and make sure you have applied to the correct division for mystery shopping. MF shops don't pay the greatest initially, but once you "cut your teeth" and prove yourself, there are bonuses to be had.
Market force is a good company to work for when you first start. Their reports are quick and easy. I also will do a few shops for them in the area if I need some filler shops.
There are film studios, smaller ones, in different cities. I did some work in one in Portland, OR and two in Arizona and others
I have a love/hate relationship with Market Force. I love them because they offer bonuses and the "name your price" feature, which helps my bottom line. I hate them because they rarely allow you to make a mistake on their reports without invalidating the entire shop a/k/a you don't get paid for it, which hurts my bottom line, and many of their shops "begin" the month as bottom feeding shops, paying $5, etc.

I've been a mystery shopper for four years now and I've been fortunate to make thousands of dollars (and thousands more in free product and reimbursements) from Market Force, even with the non-payment shops, so it balances out.

As for the SS card, I've never had to provide the physical card, save for signing up for their theater login page/company, which I've never completed any shop for.
