Anyone done overnight hotel stays for this MSP? How are they? Report like Coyle? Any input welcome. Thanks!

The owner is a great guy. The guy that you will interact with on a regular basis to complete your eval is a huge pain in the butt. I've given up on this MSC because of him. The reports are arduous because they ask some stupid questions and they require a billion pictures to be uploaded in a very very specific order. He also doesn't give you all of your instructions in a well laid-out document. It's kind of a hot mess, really. I wish Adam would take control of it and fix it.

Over the years, I've seen this same refrain over and over again: the owner is great, but this scheduler/editor/whatever is terrible. If the owner is so great, why does he employ someone who's awful?
There's no way that Adam doesn't know that people feel this way. He has been active on this forum in the recent past.

So they're the Hoju of MSCs?

I know nothing about this company but maybe it's a case of good cop bad cop?

Well that's not nice...

I don't think it's a good cop bad cop thing. It's more like a good cop, cop-that-is-just-terrible-at-his-job-and-is-probably-good-cop's-son-in-law kinda thing.

Did one. High fee was not worth the 4 page narrative with so many specifics going back and forth, taking away from other projects, that I almost (but not quite!) felt like paying for the hotel night myself.

The issue I have with True Guest is that they don't post the name of the client or property, nor do they confirm the number of days the assignment is for. Kinda hard to make a commitment, when you don't know these things.

And when your application is accepted, you are made to feel obligated to them after you find out who the client is/what property it is. You don't even know what the assignment truly entails with regard to the type and number of interactions/scenarios/audits until a few days beforehand.

They also have unrealistic turnaround times - 24 hours; even Coyle has more realistic deadlines. It would be significantly easier if you could actually just write a well-written, well-supported narrative, instead of mindlessly clicking the radio button for each of the numerous questions, and then reiterating in writing what you clicked on the radio button.

Immediate transparency is not their forte.

They clearly have a LOT of issues.

No, I had never heard that before either. Funny. But I think griff needs some of his 'scriptions but I was thinking "pre" and not "sub". One day it will be edibles, huh griffy?

Prof - I knew ahead of time the name of the client/property. They listed the property address in their ad, so I googled it. As for the number of days/nights, they listed that too. I do agree with you about being made to feel obligated to them. Even now, I guess they are having a hard time trying to fill their shops here and when I am contacted, by phone and email, it's almost as if I feel I am being pressured to accept or at least made to feel guilty if I don't. That is why I don't even like to respond to them anymore. I will never call them back, I will simply respond to the email and tell them that I am busy.

I'll have to kindly disagree about feeling pressured. At no point should you feel pressured to take on an assignment. If you're not available, you're simply not available. When there's a personalized contact from an MSC to see if you're available, I feel spending minute (or less) to respond should be the 'right' way in communicating with your clientele. TrueGuest is on those MSC's that definitely sends a personalize email to you whenever they're looking for you to take one on of their projects.

Very infrequently shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado these days.

That's exactly why I have not done any shops with them. I would much rather pay for my own hotel and have my time be my own than to spend it writing an excessive amount of narrative.

Well at least I'm glad that we have been agreeing/disagreeing in an appropriate manner!
Tarantado, I agree with you about responding to personal requests. I have responded to their personal email request, letting them know that I am not available. I guess I should take it up a noch and say that I am no longer interested in doing shops for them. I guess where the pressure comes in is the fact that I receive and email that says respond within 24 hours. I may not get to the email for 24 hrs, especially if it comes in late Sat when I have plans for Sunday. But before I respond to the email, I receive a call. And no, I don't answer the call because I don't want to talk to the MSC. It's just me, I don't like unpleasant conversations when it is not necessary. The email will have to be sufficient. I fully do not believe it is such an urgent situation, especially when the visit is a couple weeks out. Just me smiling smiley

Shop form is horrible, instructions are not fully detailed, Writing the report is mind numbing. Very cheap on the reimbursement for tips, embarrassingly so. This mystery shopping company has very specific ways they like the work presented. Scheduler is fine, just brusque. Nice hotels but definitely not a vacation. But very fast pay and folio reversal.
I have never done a Coyle hotel report, how do they compare to the True Guest reports (I do TG hotel assignment reports and I agree they are time consuming and I will sometime tip more than I claim for reimbursement)? The hotels sometimes seem to be the same hotels. Are the tasks similar (photos, lost key, housekeeping/engineering requests, etc.)? Are the report write up and questions similar? Are the Coyle hotel editors the same picky as the Coyle restaurant editors?

To answer your question, Coyle demands a lot with the reporting. Ethics, reliability and high-quality work are what they look for. The more you do well, the more exciting assignments you will receive.

Did you really admit you steal from TG by falsely claiming the tip you actually gave to compensate yourself??

Re-read it. It was stated 'tip more then I claim for reimbursement.' I think shoppers shouldn't do this, as we're binded by our shopping specifications, but that's just how I do things.
