Coyle Cruise?

Hi all
I just wondered if anyone here had done a cruise for Coyle? My question is just - how long before they let you know? I know if can be short notice on the shops and hotels, but I have applied for one and if they are not going to allocate it soon I need to utilise the time with other jobs. It would involve a flight so I assume they might schedule it quicker/give a bit more notice than other jobs?

I have done cruises not for Coyle. I did them for a large MSC who had their inhouse employees, and me, just shop the casinos. It was pretty swell. They paid for the whole family to go, plus travel. I miss the pre-crash economy.

I read the thread that SoCalMama linked, but it does not say how long they take to actually assign. I am with the OP in the waiting. These shops require more planning, especially when there are blocks of time involved that require getting off of work. Does anyone know what is an appropriate time to wait before withdrawing the application?

Yes it is frustrating. I think I have to withdraw my application. I will book a family holiday for that time instead now. I cannot book two weeks leave 'just in case'. Shame.

To those who are asking how/if they will be assigned a cruise - have you worked with Coyle extensively? Have you submitted multiple hotel reports to prove your ability to write well, provide objective narratives and submit your surveys on time?

If the answer to any of these questions is "no" or begins with, "Well, . . .", then it is highly unlikely you will be assigned a cruise.

Think of those cruise assignments as five hotel assignments rolled up into one big ball of fun.

They probably have less than 25 shoppers in their entire database to whom that they would consider assigning this shop. (insert huge eye roll here). It's not first come-first serve. They probably have a top-five list, and if any of them want these, they'll be assigned in a matter of hours to them.

That's fair enough and seems to be in line with things I've read elsewhere on this forum, but some of the requirements for the cruises are rather niche: A family of a certain continent or a couple of a certain age. If Coyle's top 25 consist of 30-somethings, but they need 60-plus couples, they would not be able to allocate any to the cruises (or vice versa).

If you're lucky enough to fit the profile of one of these cruises, aren't you likely to have a chance despite not being in the top 25?

I think yes. I'm qualified for basically one cruise that I'd be interested in, so anything that involves kids, not being a US citizen or being retirement age won't be a fit for me...

And for the record, I haven't heard a peep back from my application or email regarding the one cruise I am qualified for, so I expect it has more to do with them getting approval from the client. In the past, I have been asked to submit a short bio about myself and my guest before being a assigned a cruise for my demographic...and yes, it was very last minute.

My policy is to book the cruise week out on my calendar, and if something better comes along, I withdraw my application.

One of the people who schedules cruises told me that while demographics are important, they are not the only consideration - out of a boatload of applications, she chose to assign someone whose mother had just beaten cancer, but couldn't afford a cruise on her own. There's a human aspect as well.

btw, Coyle is not the only MSC that shops cruises.

Could anyone offer some insight into the 2-letter codes that they have on some of the profile requests? It is obvious to me what they mean when they put a particular age, US, or Euro in the demographic requirements. It is not obvious to me what they mean when they say after "_ _" (2-letter code) or one of the one that says "family (_ _)." I am not putting the code just in case I would be letting the cat out of the bag about something confidential.
