GFK Mobile Technology Study - Have they lost their minds?

I received two emails today from GFK wanting shoppers to use a mobile phone and "a device" that they will send you to take photos of other mystery shoppers at their homes. They also want shoppers to allow the shoppers into their homes to take photos. Hey, GFK, I am a mystery shopper. I don't want my picture taken. If you are legitimately testing a mobile phone's camera technology, there are millions of other types of picture subjects other than collecting photos of mystery shoppers. Is this legit or a scam? Why on earth would anyone who is a serious mystery shopper participate in something like this?

I'd want the shopper coming to see me to have to have a full background check, that they pay for and possibly get back once they completed two visits.

In all seriousness, I can't believe that GFK would seriously do this. Wow.
I erased the email as soon as I read the description. That is a shop for my 10ft pole list.
Is this legit? I hope someone from GfK posts an explanation or clarification as to what they are hoping to achieve by this.
I agree. Think of the safety/security issues of having random people in your home. Who cares if they happen to be other mystery shoppers. I don’t want strangers in my home.
Walmart's Volt app requires it's vendors to upload a passport-esk photo of themselves onto the app. It's so security in the store can see the pic of the vendor that's actually on the floor and easily identify them as not a security risk. I'm sure that the sleezeballs at the electronics audit store is requiring this of them for the same reason. I mean, I'm guessing. The Source has I-9 audits that people do, go into someone's home and verify the same info. It's the same thing. And they pay a whopping $17.00 and people take these assignments!

I overheard two employees, within my company but on a different team, talking about how they could not leave their tablets with each other and do each other's work while each other was on vacation or needed time off. Apparently they would schedule the same stores and leave their tablets with each other. Now that one has taken a job at a different company they were surmising that they wouldn't be able to pull that off but were having a discussion, in the middle of a grocery store, about how they might pull it off.

I can see why these companies are becoming so paranoid.
I do not understand why we need to visit another shopper in their home and take photos of them or have one come into our home. Just to test a camera???
I had performed GFK audits years ago for a Worst Spent, you know who they are by name. The reporting was a nightmare for a short time expectancy, after a 7-8 hour audit, with a lot of paperwork on hand. I could never get the reporting done fast enough. Now that they use Sassie software, maybe it improved. Has it improved?
It's very easy. It just takes forever. Use a tablet and you can have the directions and the bazillion updates and addendums on the tablet to view if you need it. No paper needed. Even the broken device log is supposed to be digital now. Get the store manager on your side so when you have complications they can fix it for you.
The pay is the same as it was years ago on day one unless you negotiate the rate. Negotiate the rate!
Sorry no one is coming to my home especially another shopper. I don't even do in home shops, I don't like the idea of the client's employee coming to my home. If they do a crappy job and I report it easy to know which call make the report.

Haven't done a Worst Spent in over a year, I found I can make the same or more in less time and less report on individual shops. But the last one I did was totally on my tablet and their table except for the paper you have to pull at the location. I will only do one now if it has a good bonus.
