This thread fits in with the, "how much is your time worth?" thread, where most people said their time was invaluable. In any case, I would look at the shadowing an auditor activity as time to make up later, and only if I really wanted the auditing jobs. Sort of like the, "got to spend money to make money." But I think what some people feel, is manipulated. I say trust your gut, if you feel your being manipulated, you probably are. Also, there is nothing wrong with advocating for yourself and what you believe is fair. Others may not feel like it's manipulation, or maybe it makes them think differently about something and that is uncomfortable for them. It's worth bringing up, as I'm sure there are many people who would not agree to do free training, but don't want to say so due to backlash.
