expense up front?

Do any companies give you your expense up front rather than after the shop. I sure would be nice to have the money for the purchase before instead of waiting a month for my pay.

If a company offers you money up front, it will most likely be a scam posing as a MSC. If you ONLY have to wait 30 days to get paid, then I consider this to be one of the better MSC's. Some go 45-60 days out.
I've actually participated in legitimate projects where I'm given the expenses for the project. This is EXTREMELY rare though from my years of experience.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
In ten years I could count the number of times on one hand.

It can happen, but only with companies you have established a long and good relationship with. If shopping funds are an issue, stick with the no purchase retail and bank evaluations or purchase an return shops until you get your regular cash flow going. Plenty of those opportunities out there.

Agreed. This is exactly what I did when I started. You can work your way up to the ones with higher reimbursements/expenses over time. On a related note, I also got more confident in my reports as I gained experience, so when I got to the shops with higher costs upfront, I was not afraid of having my report not accepted and not being reimbursed for all that money!

Happily shopping the Pacific Northwest. Shopping since 2013 smiling smiley
"I was not afraid of having my report not accepted and not being reimbursed for all that money!" This could not be stated enough. Never spend money you cannot afford to lose.

My second job with a new to me company after doing only one shop before I signed up with them sent me a gift certificate to buy a dinner up to $125. They did not know me at all. I must have written a stellar paragraph in my application. I still cannot believe it because there has only been one other instance in my many years of mystery shopping where I was sent money up front. I did not realize it wasn't the way things were done in this business.
Superior product pickup does for their monthly beverage pickups- but its not a mystery shop.
